Default 07 CTS-V Speedometer off after gear change

Guys,

Need some advice here. I just did the Creative Steel 8.8 swap with 4.10 gears. Now my speedo is off. My tuner says it is supposed to correct itself but hasnt? Anyone here have a clue what i should do to fix this? i disconnected the battery for about five minutes hoping that would help but it didnt.

Thanks,
Brent

It would need to be fixed in the ecu tune using hptuners type software or a handheld tuner. Even the stock 07v running stock size tires reads incorrectly as it indicates on the dash a lower speed than the built in gps reads.

He checked in his tuning software and it didn't have a parameter for it? Creative Steel even told me it is suppose to auto correct like a corvette?

No, the car isn't going to autocorrect it has no idea what size tires or gear ratio is installed in the rear end. All it knows is the transmission speed.

Using the tuning software they can change things like the final drive ratio and tire size to fix such changes. Good luck.

What do you think of the 4.10's? I like the 3.73s but kind of wish it was 3.55 even.

Auto correct?
Really?

I don't tune and I know that changing the actual physical gears would require a retune on the ECM. He's gonna have to double check his software or Press F1 or something there. lol

How in the hell are all of these ****-tards charging for tunes? Even worse, why are people paying them?

Get a new tuner that knows where to find the "Speedo" tab in the tuning software. Change the gear ratio and tire height to what you actually have in the specified sections. By entering the rear gear ratio and tire height, it will auto calculate based on the data provided by those two specific parameters (the PCM does not auto-correct anything).

I really need to start tuning for a living...the bar ain't raised too high.

Seriously...I cannot understand how some of these guys don't get better by accident after tuning all this time. Simply amazing....

That massive tab on EFI Live which says speedometer or something along those lines is hard to miss. If you tuner can't figure that out run away haha.

I thought all tires these days had sensors in the rubber so the computer could tell how tall the tire is.....huh

They work good. I saw the parameter in his software it wouldn't let you put in a tire size or change the ratio. He changed it in my TBSS and g8gt but the V wouldn't allow you to enter any info into that parameter?

Max has 4.10's if it doesn't auto correct he would have had to had it changed. I wild think he would remember that.

Just make you a little chart like this and tape it to your dash:

Old MPH New MPH
10 9
20 18
30 27
40 36
50 45
60 54
70 63
80 72
90 81
100 90
150 136
200 181

I know Im going back to 3.73's. I like the 3.55's, but....when I have enough power to top out 6th gear, then I will go back. They do not help enough on fuel mileage for me.

Well I have approx 3,000 miles on my 3.55's and.....still off the speedo is. I guess I will keep waiting for it to correct itself. Good luck!
