Default Looking for some advice on possible purchase...

Cts-V owners, please step inside...
I'm thinking about picking up a cts-v and was wondering what are some common issues are to look for. I've heard the rear ends on the 04/05 were problematic, but rectified in the 06/07. The problem is that the 06/07 are substantially more expensive in my recent searches. Looking for current/previous owners info.

I just picked up a really clean '06 with 36,500 miles and the only issues it had was a bad clutch position sensor and the motor mounts are leaking. The LS2 uses a little oil between oil changes but that appears to be pretty common for these.

Many 04-05 V's have the newer generation diffs, my 05 does.

Did GM do a recall? If so, is there somewhere I could verify if it had been done?

Any other issues I should look for? I've found what seem to be several decent deals, mostly on 04/05s. Lower mileage is a big thing for me and I'm trying to stay under $17k. Will be kept stock, outside of possibly headers and maybe cam in the way future, but even that is doubtful.

Aside from the rears, they're pretty solid. The LS6/T56 is just as strong as any other LS car. Look for mods done on the rear, like an antihop kit, pinion brace, bushings, etc. Make sure the Nav works, DVD works.

Plan on doing all kinds of Revshift bushings in the rear. Listen for dieseling upon shut down. Could be a sign of bad motor mounts, or worn out dual mass flywheel, or both.

The radiators tend to leak. I've had one crack just under the top port, and another leak around the seam at the bottom.

Is this really common? I used to see aluminum rad threads here a lot but most have died down. Anyone know if it's a hotter climate problem or just plastic end tanks or something? Just curious. I'm in pa and super low miles but still figuring out what to look for

I don't know if the climate affects it, (I've been in the Mojave desert & Phoenix) the new radiator had 4k miles on it and is seeping slowly but surely. The first one was the end cap cracking, now it's where the cap and the core meet. I know it's fairly common, it may not get posted about any more because of all the solutions.

If you get a VIN to a car that you are interested in you can PM me it and I can look up any dealership work that was done to the vehicle.

I just bought one friday. Best purchase I've ever made...I absolutely love it...I'm known to buy and sell a ton of vehicles but this one will take one hell of a wad of cash...Mine had all the goodies as far as rear end bushings, motor/tranny bushings, and all the anti-hop and pinion braces. Along with a fresh motor with cam/heads/headers...and a new tranny.
