Default Trans going bad/ What extras should I cover

Like title says, my input shaft or bearing is on its way out. Way too much whining and grinding/vibration. 85k on the car. Luckily I do have a good extended warranty. My shop is going to pull it and send it to D&D performance. During the rebuild I am going to have them upgrade a couple of things in the tranny. While its down, Im also having the short shifter put in, ls7 clutch/fw, Motor/trans mounts along with the rear end bushings and a flex disk coupler. Having the calipers pulled off so they can be repainted correctly and I'll have braided lines put on at the same time.

When I bought the car last year carmax ate several thousand dollars out the gate as the rear end was shot. Ended up putting in the new diff, rear axles and the driveshaft all on their dollar. So after this tranny job I will basically have a completely new drivetrain. Anyone have any additional things I should take care of while the tranny is out?

You'll also need a LS7 slave. You didn't have it listed, so I thought I'd throw it in. I have a brand new, never used LS7 slave if interested.

Thats right, I had forgot about the slave. Shoot me a price, I need to start getting the budget together anyway.

Thanks brother.

By the way, do you drive your V in MD winters?

I'm kind of worried about them giving me too much **** about the warranty on mine. I got it with 75k miles and I need to check when the service interval for the transmission is. I can totally see warranty denying a claim for the transmission because it wasn't serviced when it was supposed to be, if its supposed to get done before 90k, that is. I am getting a little whine from mine in every gear but 4th. So it needs to be taken care of before it becomes a bigger issue. I have a few decent trans shops around so I'll probably see who will work with me the best.

Whole new T56 is $2k , not too expensive. I would ship it to one of the shops that specialises in Txxx rebuilds like libertys or rpm, etc.
Depends on the budget but for somewhere between 1-2k they rebuild it to be bulletproof and shift way better.

Really depends on the warranty company, my shop was concerned they might call it a wear item. I just called the company and didnt give them my info, but asked them based on their policy what they cover. Apparently everything in a manual trans is covered except the clutch. They said any grinding or noises are not normal function and are covered since there are no wear items internal to the t56. As far as intervals for trans fluid change, I dont think there are any per the manual.

I checked and it states the "severe" service interval is every 50k. Though I'm not sure how they would say it was severe or not. I'm going to take my car to the local Cadillac dealer and have them do a 90k service and say, hey check trans its making a funny noise... Just see what they say. Maybe they will hook me up like they did before. If they don't then I'll take care of it later. I have the Carmax warranty so for $300 I could possibly get a new trans... And while I'm at it maybe a new diff if I complain enough... I mean heck the diff is even a well documented issue.
