Default Ok guys bear with me - Stock Trans Am

2000 Trans Am BONE STOCK! bear with me guys I wasn't around cars a lot until I got my 1999 Firebird and then I got my 2000 trans am. So I don't know a lot about the modifications. I'm would like some ideas on some mods to get for her. This is a street car. I plan on taking it to the track a few times but for the most part it's my daily driver. By the way it's and automatic if that matters

Auto or manual?

Lid, long tune headers, ory, catback, stall if auto, gears if manual, underdrive pulley, ported throttle body, ls6 intake.

It's an automatic. What's the "ory"? Was looking at intake and throttle body as well. thanks for replying

LT= long tube headers

ORY= off road y-pipe

Id also go with a full exhaust and LID. Its gonna make the car a lot more fun.

as for the free mods, just look them up for the ls1. Theres a few of them and you can decide if the trouble is worth the gains.

Seems like a SLP Lid is a good choice. Some people have told me to get a y-pipe instead of catback. In your opinion why the catback? What's a stall with "DR's"? thanks for replying. really appreciate it

You really need to read the stickys, they are there for a reason. Here is a great overview written by someone who knows what they are talking about.

From all the threads I've read on here, I think the best first mod you can get is a good stall converter and gears. Then I'd do LT's and true duals/ORY, whichever you prefer/can afford. That's the way I'd go if I could do it all over again.

Basically stuff like cutting holes in your airbox & de-screening your MAF for better airflow.

A y-pipe and catback are two different things. A y-pipe connects your exhaust manifolds to your catback. DR's are Drag Radials.

i dont know if you found out by now but ill answer anyway.

catback will give you a little more power but will sound much better. imo dont bother with a y pipe until you get long tubes.

a stall is a high performance torque converter and DR means drag radial.

anything else i can help with?

Since you're new, please realize all mods go together like a puzzle. Don't go out and get a big *** camshaft with no bolt on's. A wise man said build the car from the back, forward. Meaning that starting with power mods and never focusing on suspension, braking, driveline, etc etc is the wrong way to go.

There's alot of 500 hp cars out there running 12's and high 11's because they can't use all the power.

Also, when asking 'what mods' should I get, always describe your car and what you're trying to do with it. Notice every answer you got was a different combination of things, because no combination is the 'right', all are right in their own ways. If you're more into drag racing, I would go 4000+ rpm on your torque converter, but if you're more into the twisties, maybe a T56 swap suits you better. See what I'm saying? Just read up man. Good luck with the car, it gets addicting real quick.
