Default Bolt on a4 02 z28 vs whippled/cammed/built/full bolt on Lighting

As one can logically assume I don't just have the mods listed in my signature anymore.

Looks like you need another 15 hp so you can pull away from that turd. a .550 lift LS6 cam would do plenty if you wanted to be sneeky. we did ls6 heads and ls6 cam swap on my buddys 2000 ss 6 speed car, Idles like the stock setup but went from a 12.4 @ 110 to a 11.5 @ 117

I've run several lightenings and they're not much.

But I ran into a guy on SVT who modded up one with a Turbo that had a sewer pipe running into the intake… dyno numbers he posted were in excess of 1000whp.

My guess is he did better than high 10s.

But, as I told him, that rig was the exception that made the rule.

wow that one sounds set up! lightning's still have a crappy 2v head, and a bottom end that cant handle much more than a pulley upgrade. there was a guy i knew with a smaller turbo on one, not sure of the hp but it only trapped 124 I believe. not bad for a truck I guess.

X2 Ask me how I know. There are many times I wish I would have started with a different platform, but Im too far committed to my setup to bail now. Maybe one day.

To the op, good death. What bolt ons do you have? I would have figured the lightning would have walked you. What do they trap stock?

Guy that i mentioned, was running 13.5x with a dr, lower pully, and i BELIEVE that to be it. I could be forgetting some things as that was 2-3 years ago. Then he threw some more **** at it and ran 10s.

This is a very good set up, I did the ls6 cam in my 05 short bed 5.3 and it run hard. I was impressed with that cam. I would get away with telling guys it was just bolt-ons, lol

Nice race!

If I ever decided that I needed a single cab truck for some reason, I think I would probably go with a Lightning. I've always liked them for what they are.
