Which LSX configuration is preferred for medium hp daily driver?
After purchasing an LQ4 core that was scrap, I've decided to cut my losses and just get an LSX block built up. There seems to be a lot of opinions as to displacement and which bore/stroke combination to go with. For a durable, medium hp (around 800rwhp), turbo motor with good drivability in a 3300lb car, what do you guys like? Short stroke(3.25"), medium(3.625), or long(4")? 4" bore for wall thickness, or 4.125" so you can use larger valves? Just curious what people have tried that worked well and lasted a while.

My engine and full turbo setup cost me less than a bare LSX block, and I have the same end-goal as you. Hell, a stock 6.0 bottom end has been into the 8s.
I wouldn't even consider an LSX block until I needed a reliable setup for serious bracket racing. Unless you've just got money pouring out of your wallet (in which case... hey my Nova needs a new paint job..), then save yourself the time/money.

Seeing as how my last Mustang ran low 9s on less than you're going to spend on your bottom end... you sure as hell better have something other than an expensive disappointment planned.

What vehicle, what usage, what transmission, what fuel, what rpm range do you use etc ?
Really, there are dozens of engine configurations that can make that power goal reliably....but are they all the same, and suited to all applications ? Maybe not.

I got a recommendation and quote from a reputable shop. Medium sized, compromise between short stroke and long. No sense over thinking this. Thanks for the replies.
