Total driver fail. He ***** himself when the rear end starts floating/drifting a bit and over corrects and gets off the gas sending his car shooting to the left once it hooks up again. Most "regular" people (i.e. high schoolers or my mom) would do the same thing but I'd expect more from a true V owner, which this guys isn't.

That probably would have been a good option. He also could have slowly gotten off the gas allowing more gradual traction to be gained.
There was a number of factors at play with a lot of energy that all were released very quickly in a bad way. Perhaps this vid is a good learning point because I've seen this in person and done it plenty of times way back in the day when I was noob (we all were at on point in time - just don't practice stuff on a narrow road with 500hp cars)
- as the rear end lit up it was drifting slightly pointing the nose of the car to the right.
- the driver then counter-steered the wheels to the left
- almost simultaneously he got off gas and taped the brakes
- the weight bias went forward, the rear end got light and swung wide, there was still power being released from the car and it shot him right into the wall.
Obviously traction control and probably stability control may have been shut off. My guess is the ESC could have saved him if it was on assuming he kept the wheels pointed away from the wall. He probably would have worked his way into that wall either way though lol
