Default Injectors for 404 TT on E85

404" with twin BW S366 73 exducer and .91 A/R,L92 cnc heads, solid roller, vic jr with 2200 cfm throttlebody, running on E85. Microsquirt. What size injector and low or high impedance? Street and track use. Was told to use 160lb. Goals are 1200hp.

supposedly I.D. has access to injectors with billet parts in them made specifically for E85 that no one else does. I have heard tell that injectors like mine (FIC) are not a true injector and can clog after sitting for a week or three. Apparently the 127's are a better injector than there 2000's although that certainly was not mentioned when I purchased mine or justified in the price. With the low imp. you would need a driver box and apparently have some other choices then. I speak not from experience, just regurgitated info passed along through the grapevine. Researching and asking questions from sponsors and the like will get you the answers. I would say at least 160's.

1200 rear wheel or at motor? I make somewhere north of 1200 at motor on FIC 127's on straight pump gas at 90% cycle duty, so E85 will want atleast 160lbs

Low Imp. will be much cheaper. I believe micro squirt batch fires and is limited to 5a. Meaning you will need an injector driver. 160lb (even 120s would work) injectors can get you to 1200whp on e85 no problem. You just need enough fuel pump(s) to handle high base fuel pressure. (65psi or so).

120's?? I was told no less than 160. I thought it was a bit much myself but i have never messed with E85 so im not familiar with it. So what is easier to tune with? High or low impedance?? Where can you get a driver?

Assuming you have enough pump to handle the added pressure required 120's would do it. Many don't wish to do this so they just run the larger injectors. Guys are making 900+ on E85 on 80lb injectors. (68 psi base pressure)

IMO most of the cheap 160lb injectors are LPG injectors and they are difficult to get the PW low enough to have a great idle. I'm sure there are some expensive 160's that would work great, but I didn't want to pay a grand+ for injectors.

Up to you on the injectors. Low-z are cheaper, but require a driver. Either will work. NEither are easier to tune IMO.

These guys make drivers and they sell injectors at a good price IMO.

AEM also sells one. You can also make one pretty easily with 2 4 CYL inj driver boxes. The DSM guys run them.

You can also look on the forums. My used low-z 120's were 175 shipped.

I bought my ID2000's a couple of years ago so maybe they did not have the E85 specifics then. I have had a problem with the ball checks inside the injector tending to rust if sitting for a while. The E85 carries substantially more water and when left to sit it affects them. Best thing to do if ytou are going to leave the car sit for a while is pull them and pickle them with wd-40 until you need them.

I found them exceptionally easy to tune. We did not need a box but did need to change out the injector electrical connectors. Currently supporting 1145 rwhp on them and E85

the new ones are not out yet. I was told by my source at the PRI show that they would be out this spring roughly. Just in time to make me have to pay for a retune. let me rephrase.. the 1600's are not out yet. i think the 1300 are already out for e85.

Id has a 1300cc stainless injector they just released. They told me at the PRI show yesterday that they will flow enough for me.on e85 . They took in account my cubic inch, boost pressure, fuel pressure, desired AFR, about what hp I want to make at the flywheel, plugged it jnto their computer and it loaded a graph that showed how much the injector would flow. They said id be good to go with the 1300s. Im shooting for 1000 rwhp on E85. They are testing a 1600cc injector now. I habe a huge thread on E85 and injector problems. Ur big injectors are CNG injectors and the rubber seat swells with the e85 and itll rust the internals because of the high iron content in the material. These new injectors are all stainless steel. And bosch is only selling them to ID. Ill wait on the 1600s for head room. Im running FIC2000s which will probably fail with the e85 because they're also a CNG injector.
