T56 Tranny Fluid Spraying Rings - Help Diagnose
Vehicle Info: LS2/T56 converted Miata;
Observations:
- Rear Seal Has Been Replaced;
- No apparent play in the driveshaft.
- After each drive I have a nice ring of transmission fluid around the bottom of my car.
- The portion of the yoke that slides into the T56 is dry to the touch which makes me think its not a tailshaft seal problem.
- Drops on the floor occur right under the ears of the yoke.
- Feeling around the transmission including shifter area I do not notice fluid.
Please take a look at the pictures and help me diagnose the problem because I can't find the source.

This picture kind of shows why I am stumped: The spray is relatively narrow and centered around the yoke. If the tailshaft were leaking I would imagine the spray pattern would be wider as it would fling off the portion of the yoke that slides into the tranny. It is hard to tell but there is gap between the end of the t56 and where the spray starts. Also I can press on the newly installed seal boot and no fluid appears to press out.

is the leak from the shifter base then driping down to yoke and getting slung around?
maybe with the car in gear running up on a lift you can see source...be carefull of moving parts though
