cam in and now the valve train is loud as hell
I just put in a 216/220 525/532 lift cam in my 5.3 and the 2001 zo6 springs . The valve train is loud as hell, Did i do something wrong or is it suppose to sound like a motor that was run out of oil?

It usually is pretty loud when you first fire it up for a few minutes maybe?

It was a used cam. It has run for a about a hour and a half total. It wouldnt stay running because we had the battery out for 2 days so the computer was giving us fits

Don't freak just yet. Mine took about two days to settle down and believe me...my car sounded like ball bearings in a glass jar! I was seriously upset by that but the rockers seemed to have worked themselves out again and it's now just a slight tick now. Give it a couple days and then see how it is.

Re: cam in and now the valve train is loud as hell
You don't say what brand or year cam you installed but some base circles are different. I installed an 01 LS6 cam in my 98 and got valve train noise because the base circle was smaller than my stock cam. If you installed a cam with a base circle smaller than your original cam then you don't have the correct lifter preload.
