newb to ls1, a few questions
hey guys. i just got a 98 z that i want to swap the entire car over to my 88 iroc vert. im new to the ls1s and upgrading comps and electronics
i was going to swap the metal tank from the 98 to a plastic one, but after doing some searching, i think its way too much work for the benefits.
i think the ls1 i have already has an ls6 intake and springs?? not sure how to tell? i plan on running long tubes, true duals and maybe down the road a bigger cam and some bolt ons
what else can i get rid of off the ls1? egr air ect...???
i guess im going to have to send the comp out to delete the o2s and what else??
can anyone help me out??
mike

The F-body didn't come with the ls6 intake until 01, so your 98 will have a ls1 intake on it. If it has a egr behind the throttle body its a ls1 intake. You can delete the egr, air and rear o2's. You need the front o2's for A/F mixture. You'll have to have the computer tuned for the deletes.

Thats a LS1 intake manifold.
Like "undertow" stated the egr is on the passenger side and the Evap is on the driver side.
When you order headers get "off road" they won't have any ports for the egr or the air system. The ls6 intake won't have the hole behind the throttle body in the intake manifold for the EGR tube either.
You can get rid of the evap, I have. But you'll need to use that hard line and vent it to a place that you won't smell the fumes from the fuel tank. Don't just block it off either, the tank needs to be vented.
After you have removed all these emission systems from the car you will need to have all of the DTC's tuned off in the computer so you don't have the SES light glowing.
