bought the micro from efisource and built my harness myself. this is my first efi build sence my old gn,s and there is a huge difference but using denmah,s build thread and an old harness it is up and running. love it so far
love the customer service with efisource. I had an issue with my engine having a weak spark on 4-7 and called mike he said send it in and he whould do a resistor change and it whould run great. he was right. fast turn around and the car starts and runs like it should . with the cars I build I will always run a 400th or powerglide . so I don't see ever needing anything else.
if you buy one id use efisource with a denmah tune there is just no easier way to get the car running and start learning to tune it. JMHO.

How long are your coils lasting in wasted spark? I have two sets of heatsink truck coils and mine would only see track use but will spend the majority of time above 6500 rpm. I was thinking of selling my 6012 and using the ms1 extra with wasted spark coil drivers and low z injectors from efi source. They are only 475 on ebay and it comes with an 8 ft harness.

mine has not ran long enuff to give you any feedback but I don't think it will hurt them much. there is a ton of factory cars that run in wastespark including buick gn's. different coils but they live a long time.
I think you can run a micro with a low z injector driver for about the same $$$ but it will run fuel as well.

Coil life is not an issue as the Micro puts out the same pulse as the factory PCM to run the factory coil's internal driver circuit. Wasted spark does not put any load on the coil as it is not trying to fire a spark on the exhaust stroke with zero compression same as in free open air (zero load). Ford has used wasted spark for years as well as other OEM Mfg's.

From what I understand, the manufacturers that use wasted spark all have coils that are designed to be used that way. ie 4 & 6 coils per pack all isolated with special goo and designed with a heavier duty cycle. I was just curious of the longevity of the heat sink coils at double their designed duty cycle at 6500-7500 rpm. I don't expect to put more than 25-30 miles per year on my coils. I like the idea of one box controlling the engine. I would rather be able to run my injectors straight off the box. I could use a driver or resistors but that is just something else that can fail. I am a k.i.s.s. Kind of guy.

I guess I could even sell my two sets of coils and buy 2 4coil wasted spark packs. I have to run remote mounted coils anyways.
On a side note, since I am running filled block and heads, can I get by without a coolant temp sensor or am I screwed there? Not sure how crucial that reading is to the tune?

it uses the coolant temp for cold start enrichment and cold start timing advance. you could disable them but im not sure how it will start . do you run any water at all? if so you could get it in the water any place and it whould still work.if not you might install it in the oilpan .

Moving to 4 tower style coilpacks would be a stupid thing to do
As for temperature. It would still make sense to monitor engine temp somehow if only for safety reasons.
