C5 STS twin turbo system
Anyone running this? What are your thoughts running about 8lbs on a otherwise stock LS1?
I'm not looking to make 800 or 1000hp with it just a nice street demon.... There isn't much competition here where I live besides some LS Fox swaps, a friend's 1200hp 02 Z28, my 900hp 98 Z28 and some 300-400hp 1 gen MR2s oh and this 500hp awd civic hatch.... Everything else is pep boys bolt on cars.

Wasn't the old STS C5 system like $13k or something like that?? I don't think you'll have much to compare it to anymore these days as people have found out how to build a turbo system for a quarter of that and won't pay those prices anymore. On another note, I think they were also doing like 6/640rwhp on maybe 8/9lbs back when I had my supercharged C5.

Priced out its about $11,000 which I didn't know. I just want something that will spool quick and have about 550-650hp at the wheels. Like I said before I already have a hp monster with my Z28.

Yea you'll get those numbers. I remember guys back then were all in the 600ish range if not a tad more. But no clue on what turbo they were using back then. Im sure now with all the range of options you could even buy a separate better turbo now.

I have a blown set up on my 98 Z28 and i want to try turbo this time... I'm still looking around for some cheaper options. if worse comes to worse I'll just buy some turbos, an intercooler and have my buddy design the plumbing for me... He makes his own turbo kits and charges between $1000-$2000 for fabrication.

In my experience with rear mount C5's or C6's(mostly box stock STS kits) the kits didn't spool too heard in 1st gear so much(not a lot of load generated by the short gears...) but, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc...the cars pulled really nice, and was a fun driver. These cars has no other mods. It's been years,..couldn't tell you what they made on the rollers but if your just looking for something fun and a driver, numbers shouldn't even really matter then within reason.
PTK replica kits can be found but,,...that kit isn't for everyone.

rear mounts are great if done right. sts kits leaves a lot to be desired in my mind.
I have a rear mount on my c5z. It spools stupid fast and makes a ton of power for a stock bottom end 5.3. Plan to push it further on tuesday.

Some people can get the rear mount systems to work very well and put down great numbers. It's all about how you build the system and what supporting mods you have. It's an option for those people that want to keep AC and not have to change a lot of underhood items to fit the front mounted setups

You would want:
TTiX
or
Granatelli
or
PTK
or
UPP
Any of those, are front mounted setups. Everything is down low, except for the PTK setup, which requires the turbos to sit on top of the radiator area. Custom, is also an option.
Turbos don't care where they go. Just gotta worry about pressure drop and velocity(tube diameter). Nothing wrong with a proper setup remote mounted turbo. Sometimes, you just don't have the room.

So..you wouldn't want an STS remote mounted(rear mounted) turbo setup.

PTK

UPP
Or
