Default Faint squeak - driver's side rear

Any ideas on what would cause a faint yet noticeable
"squeak squeak" from the driver's rear area? I double
checked my lug nuts and H&R hubcentric spacers.

My upper rear strut mount bolts were a tad on the
loose side, I tightened them up but I'm not sure
that could even cause this sort of an issue.

Bad hub? Rock in brake caliper?

Someone on a thread here said it could either be the mini shock for the hatch or the latch that locks the back rear seat in the up position... Mine was the whole seat at the hinge so i tightened everything and now its gone .

I think it might be from the plastic panel underneath the spoiler (inside the trunk) lifting off slightly. I could see it banging around over bumps. It seems looser on the driver's side.

What exactly did you tighten?

The bolt (STAR HEAD) behind the rear passenger seat that the latch locks onto just infront of where the seatbelt retracts into and the nut that the seat hinges on, on both sides .

^Thank you! The one on my 98 is a regular non-torx bolt. It
looked OK when I checked it the other day, but I didn't
throw a ratchet on it. I'll double check.

I have a squeek from the passenger pipe hanger, it has good days and bad. I've gotten out a light, walked around and kicked the right tail pipe and squeek gone lol. Only to return another day

If I had a cam or a cut out I wouldn't be able to hear it! Perhaps
that's the solution to our creaky/squeaky 4th gens

I think it is coming from the passenger pipe hanger, although I'm hearing it
on the driver's side - but I drive with only my driver's window down..

Maybe I'll spray the crap out of the bushing with something greasy

I do have a small cam and car shakes a little at idle, so that is when I hear it. With car off, try to push the back of car, pipes, etc back there left right, see if you can duplicate it. That is how I confirmed it was hanger. I tried greasing it, but it comes back. I may try some high temp gun grease!

it would have to be super loud to hear it while driving forward especially while moving ......try putting lithium in the latch that holds the hatch it could be rubbing or the door could be riding on the latch bolt

Also check that the monsoon amp if you have it is securely fastened, and your spare tire and jack and secured. The other thing that occured to me that it might be is the caliper bracket is frozen theirs a rod or pin that sometimes rusts when their isnt any grease on it that should be replaced every time you do your brakes otherwise it squeaks a really high pitched annoying noise everytime you press them or if your rotors are warped they could be hitting the pad causing the bracket to squeak during drives.

No monsoon amp, I did check my jack (no spare either..previous owner)

I'll ask the muffler shop to check my rear brakes. The serviced the fronts about 6 months ago but not the rears. I'll ask them to grease/replace that pin..is that called the caliper pin? There is zero squealing when I apply the brakes. Just when I'm driving.

I applied dielectric grease to my hatch lock and other areas. Didn't seem to do anything, but probably doesn't hurt regardless!

Have you checked the emergency brake shoes. I didn't see if noise was present while moving but that'll give a squeak when they are wore out. The shoes on these cars float and wear out even though you never use the Ebrake.

How exactly do you grease them without removing them/the
sway bar? I smeared some synthetic grease on them as best
I could about a year ago but that was with everything still
installed..

jackstands the past couple of time haha.

You can remove them easily. It takes me about 20 mins to do them and that is taking my time. It's really easy.

Cool..just read the link on ls1howto..I'll give it a go! I'll
spray the bolts down with pb blaster first as they are all
surface rusted.

Muffler shop didn't find anything..and the owner
there is a personal friend/not a hack. He had it upon the
hoist and took it for a test drive. He greased a few things
underneath and I haven't heard the squeak since, but
the clunking sound from the rear end over speed bumps/
road dips remains..it really sounds like a loose exhaust
to me; but I was underneath the car with him and the
catback is not loose. The exhaust hangers are fine..
I really don't know!
