Default Well the V got backed into

Went to leave work last night and this welcomed me. Some douche decided it was ok to back into me and not leave a note or anything. Cracked headlight, broken fog lamp mounts, broken bumper cover and I havent looked real close at anything else. Security is reviewing the tapes for the night but they didnt know if the camera would be pointed that way when it happened or not. I dont have high hopes there.

That sucks. I know my car is old, but damn, I worry about parking it by any other cars in lots or on my street.

That sucks, and you may be out a deductible. Is that covered under comprehensive I hope? On the bright side you'll likely be getting a new bumper, headlight, and fog light. I actually kinda wish this would happen to mine so I could get a refresh, haha.

One can only hope that karma will buttfuck that person with a horse dick and no lube. Hopefully you have good insurance that will cover uninsured motorists/hit and run kind of stuff.

If they can't tell who did it on the security camera I probably wont turn it into insurance. I don't really need my insurance going up anymore, I'm already paying $2000 a year for cars and $400 a year for my two bikes.

If I have to be responsible for the money end, I can get a bumper cover from rockauto for $365, cts headlights and do hid conversion for $300 and get fogs for $120. Then the price of the paint supplies. Insurance isn't going to pay for GM stuff anyway. But we will wait and see if they can figure out who did it.

Don't forget that shipping on the fascia is usually about $150.

For what you pay in insurance the bumpers better be OEM.

It usually won't be. My fiancée is an estimator at a collision repair shop. You can pay the difference to get an OEM piece. But she has to search used, reman, and aftermarket before she gets OEM. That's what insurances dictate.

I could be wrong, but I don't think comprehensive claims jack your rates. You might want to call and make an inquiry before filing.

From my experience in the auto body world, insurance companies will be more apt to go aftermarket for a Toyota, Kia, etc, not a Cadillac, Bmw, or anything that is on the nicer end, insurance company, miles, and condition will dictate this as well.

My V was keyed on Halloween a few years back and they paid for OEM headlights, each headlight was around $750-800 from the dealer, which absolutely sucks, but it is what it is, I say stick to your plan if it comes down to it!

Sorry to hear though, on the brighter side of things, new paint .

I think it depends on how many claims and what your driving record is. But I agree... As the insurance company. And if they cover it, give the insurance company the number of the people that have the video of the parking lot. Let them do the leg work.

The OEM lights may have been the only HID lights available. The non OEM replacements have to be of OEM quality. Trust me it doesn't matter. I hear every day about the customers my fiancee gets that complain about not getting OEM stuff on their MB or BMW or whatever. That's just the way it is. Insurance companies are in the business of making money, not paying it out in claims. They will give you credit for the cost of the lowest priced part that will match if you want to pay the difference to get OEM you can. That is up to the owner.
