Default Is it safe to use a Yank PT4000 with nitrous?

I'm thinking in the near future of adding the bottle to my car. The thing is that I have the Yank PT4000 stall and heard it is good only for N/A and not for nitrous, because of the shift extensions. Would it still be ok to use a small shot on the converter? I really don't want to take out the converter and have it re-stalled if I don't need to.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Call Yank and ask them.

Probably, but it depends on your shift points. My ss4000 couldn't handle a 100 shot with stock shift points. I put a bigger cam in and bumped it up to 6900ish and it worked great. Jury is still out on the 150 shot though, I was having all sorts of problems when I tried it.

Yeah I figured I might blow through the converter. The shift points are kinda high, goes up to about 6200-6300 and shifts back down to around 5300.

I'll most likely call Yank and see what they say. I really don't want to drop the transmission lol

From what I remember Yank told me a 100 shot is about the biggest shot you can spray before it'll just blow through.

Need a tighter converter is going to blow rite through it.

Imo best will be one you can lock @ wot at 90 mph to catch one heck of a top end as well.

Like a multi disc.

It will win a tight race for you every time.

I sprayed my pt4000 back in the day for a brief period of time before switching converters. It is a loose converter but it will work. Man was that pt4000 a beast !

Yeah this converter is a beast on motor. If I do spray it, I'll probably have Yank re-stall it.

Not recommended for a car with bolt-ons only and stock shift points. I run a 100 shot through mine and it works well, but I shift at 7000rpm. Never sprayed at the track so I don't have any slips to see how it actually runs. I tried a 150 shot and it felt much slower. Trans temp increased 70 degrees after a single pass

Yeah I want to add more power to my car and thought nitrous would be the best bang for buck. But I'll most likely have to change my converter if so.

I also just been debating to keep the converter in it, and just do a head/cam swap.

Well I spoke to Dave at Yank converters, great guy to deal with.

He said the PT will be too loose if I sprayed a 150 shot. He recommends a SS3600 if I do go that route. Just thought I add this info for any others that read this thread in the future.

Now I have decisions to make...lol

I agree, but for about the same cost of getting a nitrous kit installed, I can gain almost twice the power

Just remember that the use of Nitrous on the street is illegal in all 50 states. Just having a bottle hooked up is illegal. It can be anywhere from a ticket to an automatic charge of street racing to impounding your car. It could also void your insurance, perhaps even liability insurance for injury to another person. I sure would never consider it.

Yeah but also In California having a cam in your car where the lope is noticeable to hear, is also illegal. Your car can get impounded, get ref'd by a smog station and so forth. Its the game we pay to play
