Default Nitto dr's vs BFG dr's

Okay folks, after my runs at Bristol in my Hawk last night, I have decided to buy drag radials. I am trying to decide between these 2. All I have is a 2001 Stock LS1 with short headers, open cutout, stock .323 rear running around 375 HP at the crank or 321 or so at the wheels.

Car is NOT a daily driver, I just want something that will stick good at the track, DOT approved and street legal, and maybe bark quickly on takeoff as to keep stress down on the rear end. I have an A4, so no dumping and right now I am running 13.8-13.9's on BFG KDW's which spin like crazy.

The prices I am finding on both are close to the same, so just looking for performance input. My KDW's spin almost the 1st 60', so I know having dr's is going to help a ton. Keep in mind, it's not a daily driver, need to be street legal, and rarely driven in rain anymore. Thanks.

The two tires will perform similiarly on the track and on dry pavement. It really is a matter of personal preference. FWIW, I went with the Nitto's. My car is a D/D and rarely sees the track but the Nitto's will shed water much better than the BFG's will anyday. Since the BFG's are slick down the center, they will be more prone to slide in the rain. I know you say that the car isn't driven daily or much in the rain but to me, it's better to plan for the unexpected downpour than not slide across the wet highway! After the Nitto's get to about half tread (and they're only 6/32" new ) both will be equally deficient in the rain. I like my Nittos and I'd buy them again.

Thanks for the info. Any idea how long either of them last on average? And do they need a huge burnout, or just a quickie? I can 't wait to takeoff without all that spinning. I am hoping to cut .5 off my time easy, as I spin forever. I just want to hit the gas and go, to heck with this feathering stuff.

Nittos last longer!!!!!!! I used to have a set of BRG's they MIGHT have made 30 passes and 1000 miles. My last TWO sets of nittos have made OVER 50 passes a peice and about 10,000 miles on the first set and about 7,000 on this set and still plenty of tread left!

I've got the BFGs, and I can still pull a 2.0 60' on 30+ PSI with these. They hook awesome, I wouldn't worry about launching your A4 with them. More or less, its the M6s that are more prone to the 10 bolt grenading. Not to say that it isn't possible, but I'd go with the BFGs.

I usually do a quick little burnout, enough to smoke them a little bit. Nothing big..

BFG's hook a lot better than Nittos. But they are harder on your rear and, don't last as long, and you can't drive them in the rain, unless you're crazy.

I am going to get BFG's in about 2 weeks. I don't drive my car but about once a week. My DR's ought to last a little while.

I would say nittos, for two reasons, one is that they will last longer and two is that you arent making outrageous power and i dont think that you will ever spin them with your current set up. My car is almost stock hp and i have nittos and have never spun them at the track. If you get more power and out grow your nittos then get bfgs or some kinda real drag tire..

If you want them to stick get the BFG.I have raced with guys on nittos and mods similar to mine and I consistently hook better.

I drive on them in the rain. Just don't be stupid and you'll be fine. I'd imagine it would start getting pretty bad once they are completely bald.
