Default Picture of my drivesaft about to fall off?

Should a driveshaft look like this or is my driveshaft about to fall off? Shouldnt the driveshaft and transmission be touching?

It isn't about to fall off. There's supposed to be so play there. I thought the same thing when I first removed my driveshaft and reinstalled it.

But mine looked like yours does now..

The rear end moves around so it the drive shaft slides in and out of the tranny. Not as much as you have there, but I'd looks okay. I don't think mine sticks out that much, but I never really looked.

Thanks for replies. .....

My rear end has moved so far back that the exhaust pipe that snakes over the crossbrace bar is now resting on it and resonating annoyingly loudly- it used to easily clear it.

Is it normal for the rear end to move back like this after drag racing or is there a problem?

Can I push the rear end forward somehow?

Thanks Again

It's not normal for a rear end to slide back, you need to check your bushings but even that would'nt let it slide back too far.

Which bushings should I check? I checked the one for the exhaust hanger and its normal. All the bolts are tight that i checked. What causes a driveshaft to move backwards far enough to move the rear end back?

Thanks Lane
