TR 220/200 .553/.553 112 LSA ... did I do the right thing????
My new TR 220/200 .553/.553 112 LSA kit cam will be here tomorrow and will be installed in about two weeks. I'll ditch the Superchips tuner and have the car dyno tuned ... also will do a ported throttle body and LS6 intake.
With this combined package and the basic mods in my sig, what can I expect for RWHP/RWTQ? Also, do you think I did the right choice for my very first cam or do you think this custom grind is too mild?

Is your car an Auto or 6 speed? I ran that cam in my 6 speed car with headers, offroad Y-pipe, no ASP pulley, no cutout, stock TB, and stock tuning. In that configuration it made 380rwhp. I added a set of Patriot 5.3 stage II heads, pulley, and cutout and it jumped to 416rwhp 392rwtq on the stock tune. The TR220 is a great cam!! It drove wonderfully even on the stock tune in my car.

That'll be a great cam for you. I had my TR220 on a 114, but I bought it used so I had to take what I could get. My buddy now has it in his 5.3 and it idles very well. I liked mine, but wanted to go bigger.

Thank you both for your feedback.
I was afraid that I had not gone wild enough on the duration, but, I was comfortable with the lift. The separation angle was also a major concern. According to your experiences with this grind, I feel real comfortable now. Thanks ya'll.

No, it's ya'll in East Tennessee to us mountain-folk type farm boys. When you can tell me you've ploughed with a mule, we'll sit down and talk about harnesses, swingle trees, and clevices ... over a nice ice cold Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Ever found well water with a devining rod? Or put silage behind the old radiators in school to smell up the classrooms/hallways and run everybody outside? Ever guarded a watermelon patch with 12-gauge high-collared brass packed with rock salt? Believe me, it's ya'll. At least you didn't have to carry up water from the springhouse in the winter time. Your picture shows you had a water tower. I guess we were uptown in the country where I'm from. Hell, we had a TWO seater outhouse.

I had that cam and loved it. My car made 366rwhp with that cam and bolt ons through closed exhaust. I think you will be in the 350-360 range with the cats. Possible 365 with a cutout
FWIW : that combo with a vig 3200 + 16 nitto drs went 11.7 all day full weight
Its a nice stealthy setup for sure

Nitto's w/o stall converter.
Got my cam kit from Thunder Racing today. What kind of numbers do you think I will make with Nitto's and no converter? I've spent too much cash on it already and the converter is just not possible right now. Think I can break into the high 11's? Hopefully, it will at least be close.

You'll be hard pressed to run any good times without a converter...they are almost a requirement for good track times. My buddy with a big cam and S2 MTI heads and all the boltons minus a converter could only muster up a 12.4, FWIW. The cam will be good for a while. You may want bigger in the future, but not everyone wants a huge cam the first time around.

That grind is pretty close to my B1 specs (221/.558/114lsa), and the 112 lsa will bring the peak power down so you wont have to rev so high. My car with the B1, midlength headers, pulley, lid, cutout, and ported MAF made 380rwhp/360rwtq at 6400-6500. If your wondering how it might sound, visit my cardomain website.

Thanks jrp.
Your advice and comments are appreciated. I'm getting the dyno and the three drag strip runs, as well. I'll post the and then I'm having the cam installed Afterwards, I'll post the new numbers. Again thanks for your help and for all that you contribute both here and in other forums.
