How much faster are the 2000's as compaared to the 98's and 99's?

How much faster are the 2000's as compaared to the 98's and 99's? How much of a difference is there between the 2000+'s than the earlier years? Can someone please explain? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Re: How much faster are the 2000's as compaared to the 98's and 99's? I don't think you could even tell. From what I have seen, there is no major difference in ET until the 2001 comes around.

The year of the motor doesn't determine how fast it is. There are well built motors of every year that run a tad faster than others. My poor ole weak 98 has never been outrun by any year LS1 w/ equal mods <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: How much faster are the 2000's as compaared to the 98's and 99's? Went to cast iron exhaust manifolds in 2000. People have said they flow slightly better, maybe 5hp. IMO, not enough to make a significant difference.

but its no difference in ET in a 98-00
but the 01-02's are pretty much a solid 1-2 tenths quicker...
maybe they are just freaks i see, but its plenty of stock 01-02's running 12's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
the 98-00's i only see mainly in the low 13's
also they are dynoing way better in my opinion then the 98-00 cars
i guess that ls6 intake/cam helps some <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

Also keep in mind that some of the older LS1's aren't running as quick because a TON of new ideas have been tried in the last year or so. People are taking things out of these cars now that we didn't even THINK about doing 2-3 yrs ago. I believe the 01's will run SLIGHTLY better due to the new cam/intake combo, but it's nothing to jump up and down about. Keep in mind most of the 98's on the fastest bolt on list are NOT gutted cars, and most of the 01's are down around 3200-3300 lbs.
I am by no means being cocky, but I have raced several SIMILAR modded 01+ LS1's and have yet to be outrun in my 98. When it comes to a fully strip trim car, no gutting, etc...It's going to come down to the level of mods and the driver.
