Default Weight reduction list for the daily driver...

Besides !spare, !back seat, !pass. seat, and !loud GF reductions, what else can the daily driver remove to reduce weight? You guy know what I'm talking about. I still want good handling, crash safety, and the car to look good inside. I don't want to strip my car naked to go faster. Suggestions?

Front bumper support is 40, the K-members reduce like 50 pounds right? Wiper is like 15 I think, then the Dyanbatt is like 10 lighter than stock...passanger seat is 30

Remove sound deadning material off carpet, that is 15#s. and still retain the carpet, and BTW that carpet is heavy!!!
anything unneeded should be tossed. there is a list by the Colonel, you can print that out and decide what you can live with out...

Dynabatt saves 18 pounds over stock. KMember is 44pounds with A Arms and no swaybar. Front bumper support is 21 pounds I think? Foglights are 3 pounds, EGR, underdash panels 4 pounds, Cruise and AIR Pump is 16 pounds.
18+44+21+3+4+16= 106 pounds
Lighter rims and tires is another 100 pounds approx for over 200 pounds total.
Cheers,
Chris

I know this isn't going to be a popular statement but . . .

I'd be careful on weight reduction mods that effect safety equip for daily driven cars. Get into a wreck without a front bumper support and hurt someone like your passenger (doesn't matter if that would have minimized the damage or not) and you're looking at a lawsuit and maybe a criminal charge. I can just hear the lawyers now, "dangerous racers modifying cars and driving on the street . . . illegal . . . and look at all the other "illegal" changes to the car we found!"

Damn! I'm just getting toooo old!!!

Guys wouldn't it have been much cheaper to buys a used V6 f-body and tear it to shi$? Many of you got 98-00 Zs for T/As and are gutting them, swapping motors and rearends and trans. I can't believe you guys are doing this stuff to these cars. To each his own right!

Yeah...HELLO people! I drive it on a daily basis. What happens if, God forbid, I was in an accident? I need to be realistic. Keep the sugg. coming.

Sound deadener, dyna-batt, light weight composite hood can be as light as 15lbs or less, lighter rimms, drain windshield cleaner, race seats (I'm getting some myself)

none of this compromises safety unless you put the hood on wrong.

I leave the front bumper support in. IF your gonna get in a accident its probably gonna happen. My car stops like a 2001 malibu now, just like like a Z28. I have no swaybar, skinnies, and lots of weight removal.

My V6 weighs 3040lbs in drag trim and 3240 in street trim (w/sub&amp).. without me in it.

You could also pull..
Cruise control
Rear speaker pannels
Hatch Flap
Sound deadening matt over rear.. (under carpet between rear speakers)

And one of the most important, front sway bar and brackets.. REALLY improves launch abilities.

!washer fluid reservoir
!hatch cover
!back floor mats
!back seat belts
!trunk carpet

how hard is it to pull the cruise off and how much weight is it? i doubt it would be worth it.

Cruise was about 5lbs.. it all adds up.

It was a few small bolts, unplug the harness.. unroute the cable.. and thats it.

I am going to take off the front bumper support, but leave the rear. I don;t trust someone rearending me. I can avoid rearending someone else

I want my car to be like 3400 with me in it for a race weight...

I weigh 250 pounds...

Macgyver who has a 98 T/a with a TH400 and 9" which is a similar setup to me is like 3410 empty with 1/4 tank of gas

I have the firehawk chrome rims on right now, so thats about 20 pounds over all more than the stock t/a rims...he has a 9" so thats like 20-30 more than the 12-bolt that I have, but he has more weight reduction...front bumper support, rear seats, jack/spare, swaybar, and he weighed in at 3410...I think I will weigh around the same or a little heavier... that will put me in to the high 3600's for race weight

I'd like the interior of my car looking stock but I know the leather seats are heavy. are there any descent looking race seats available. I have seen only some of the ones some imports use and I am not a fan. Is there any website or any members with pics of race seats?

I agree with wanting the interior looking stock. How light are the nice reclining Corbeaus?
How much louder is the car with sound deadening removed? What does it look like and where is it again? How easy is it to remove the swaybar? Can it be removed for the track and put back easily?

Also, where would I get the k member and a arms?
