Transbrake on a 200-4R
Has anyone seen it done, and if so how much did it cost. Mike at Century Transmission told me it can be done, but its close to $800 for the brake alone. Does that sound right??

There is a person who is making the 'budget' kit and I bought one of his kits. I think it was $150.00 and I still have his contact information. They utilize the existing hardware but change the low/reverse gear shaft, as well as, have you drill some holes into the existing valve body plate. I have not installed this kit yet so I have no personal feedback regarding it. I DO however know several people using it with good results. There had been some bad stories about it before sticking in between gears but I think that was resolved.
The more expensive conversions are full valve body conversions and that is why they cost upwards of $500.00. Are they worth it? I guess that depends on how much money you have.

Doesnt sound right to me, sounds high.
I have one in my 200-4R and it cost $150 for the brake. I had mine installed the same time it was getting rebuilt so the guy threw the labor in because he said it was easy with the trans already apart. My only complaint about mine is that it engages by being put into 1st then to release it you bang it into second. The only problem is you cant manually launch in first without being on the brake. I think mine is an Art Carr model but it may be a Mike Kurtz not sure which or hell it could be neither and be the same as NOS John was talking about.

Chris - the stage right type of trans-brake, same as RX-7 is using (shift into first to engage), is really reliable. As said, there were some issues before about creep but that seems
to have been eliminated with more exacting tolerances on the shaft.
I'm fairly sure that Jason Cramer runs one on his GN into the high 9's. They are great bang for the buck. Either that or get an entire valve body from someone.

Yours shouldn't if it was bought recently. Previously I don't think they were machining the "Titan-Tuff Shaft" to a close enough tolerance to the VB. It replaces the low-overrun shaft and needs to fully seal that area of fluid or it will pass by. I have a new kit here if anyone has any further questions, it's a fairly easy and simple kit. I can also take some pics.
Post some damn pics of your car!! You should come up with a conversion kit for that RX-7, really cool car and highly sought after hybrid...even if it's just a diagram or wiring schematic and motor mounts to convert it...I'd buy that for $100. A few guys were doing LC2 motor cars (Grand National drivetrain). COOL.

Yes, first gear engages the trans-brake. So, the only downside is that you can't "use" or mentally feel like you're in first gear but the hard launch makes up for it...believe me, some of the GN guys are NOT suffering. Your transmission should run through first anyway, unless you have a full-manual valve bodied transmission...I thunk'.

I dont have anywhere to host pics of my car or I would.
Honestly the swap is very easy and I have had tons of people think the LS1 is the factory motor becaus eit looks so "right" between the shock towers.
