Help a noob Seafoam his LS1?
well I've been doing a lot of searching and reading and have learned a lot in the past few weeks.
I still have some questions tho about this process, in particular with my TA.
I just went and bought a can of Seafoam, I'm wondering two things, what's the best way to treat the engine - and - what's the easiest way to treat the eninge?
since you can't really pour it down the TB would transfering the seafoam into a spray bottle and spraying it into the TB work?
any advice would really be appreciated assume I'm a complete moron I guess, I'm not, but I am with my new LS1

.
Use it as directed ... add part of it to the gas (has a breakdown of ounces / gal) ... add part to the oil (again it has a breakdown), and if I remember correctly, add 1/3 of the bottle into the intake. The way I usually do it is by taking off the PCV and adding it through there (make sure you do it while the engine is running as it says on the bottle, otherwise it could pool and damage the engine). Also, Make sure you poor it REALLY SLOW. If you do it too fast you will hear your engine bog down, so you know you are pooring it too fast.
You may need more then one bottle ... the first time I did it I just used one bottle and added slightly less then it said (4-5 ounces into oil, 4-5 ounces through pcv, and the rest in the gas) .... if you use the same breakdown it says and add it to a full gas tank, you will probably have to use a bottle and a half or so.

I don't see where to pour the Seafoam in this was kind of my original problem.
when I search on the location of the pcv it's supposedly located at the back of the eninge, near the passenger side valve cover, near the fuel rail... if it's back up there how would you even get to it?
thanks very much for the help

its a top engine cleaner of sorts. its a multipurpose cleanser for your engine. i prefer gm top engine clean but to each his own. i use half the bottle in the intake and the point is to let the car stall. if it doesn't stall shut it off. leave it sit off for about 15 mins start it up and drive it around. it will smoke quite a bit

I just pull the power brake booster hose and let it suck down a whole can. Let sit for 15 minutes or so, then WOT passes down the freeway. I use to let it sit over night, but after one time of using seafoam and letting it sit overnight, the next day I pulled the heads off. It looked like black tar sitting on all my pistons, and was about as sticky as tar too.

doing it the PCV method.... do I have this right?
thanks to the Foreman Motorsports Oil Catch web page for this pic
disconnect pcv line from throtle body, as above pic shows, then attach a funnel to this tube (green arrow) and pour the cleaner in there?
that catch can looks like a damn good idea too...

I change my oil about 100 miles after poppin the seafoam in there also, as I have heard it can make the oil "sludgy" or thinner then normal (dont know if this is the truth or not ... but $30 in oil is worth it for me NOT to have to find out). Probably the best Idea is to do it a hundred or so miles before an oil change.
