Results from Cecil Co. Dragway last night
Me and a buddy Joe took his 2000 Trans Am to the dragstrip last night in Cecil Maryland. His car is completely stock A4 with 34,000 miles and has 2.73 gears with stock Goodyear RSA tires. The track was well prepped and hooking very well. Joe did all the driving and he hasn't raced in about 10 years. The first run was:
60' 2.112
1/8 8.739 @ 83.42 mph
1/4 13.394 @ 104.02 mph
Just goes to show you what a well broken in LS1 will do stock. We then added Hypertech HPP3 programming. This resulted in:
60' 2.034
1/8 8.631 @ 84.03 mph
1/4 13.254 @ 105.94 mph
We then added an aftermarket airbox lid similar to the MTI design lid. This resulted in:
60' 2.043
1/8 8.586 @ 84.79 mph
1/4 13.178 @ 106.38 mph
So with the HPP3 and the lid he picked up 0.216 seconds and 2.36 mph or nearly 24 hp. Not bad at all considering that he still has the stock 195 deg. thermostat and was running the HPP3 optimized for the 195 deg. thermostat.
We also tried a set of ported MAF ends. These usually work really well on stock programming but not too well with custom programming like the HPP3. And sure enough running the MAF ends with the HPP3 resulted in a loss of about 2 tenths and 2 mph because it leaned the car out too much. However they would be a good mod for a car with totally stock programming.
I sure wished I had my car up here last night. With the cool sea level air and the sticky track I probably would have had a new best.

I am up here on a work assignment for about 10 weeks. Unfortunately, my car is back home . But at least I can help Joe mod his .
Joe and I will be at Cecil this Sat. See ya there.

Re: Results from Cecil Co. Dragway last night
Thanks, Pat. Good to be back.
Well Joe and I took his T/A out to Cecil on Saturday for the EFA event. It was great. Had a great time meeting Joel (Ragtop 99) and Brian (Fireball). Thanks for letting me use your helmet Brian. Thanks for letting me make a pass in your car Joel.
Anyway Joe ended up with a new best. As you may recall, Weds night he ran a best of 13.17 with a lid and HPP3 tuning only. Well we had Jason remove the torque management from the PCM with his LS1 edit. Joe then managed a new best of 13.08 @ 108 mph at 12:30pm. That's pretty good I think for a 2.73 car and stock tires.
Joe let me race his car in the bracket race. I managed to finish second overall. I lost by about 10 feet or less at the finish. It was a good race, I was just a little too slow.
We were hoping that the track would be open later that night because we were going to pull the seats out and get some 12's but they closed the track.
