ticking noise New ls1 owner and my first stick car and first race. Car ran great zero noise until I raced. Went to shift into 4th gear and hit 2nd gear. Took a second or two before I pushed in the clutch after I realized what I did. Car shook bad and now I have a ticking noise under the hood from idle and up. Tick increases with rpm. Still runs fine but that dam ticking noise. What could I have hurt in the motor and how much to fix.

I had a similar noise going on with my car. It turned out to be clutch chatter. I knew the clutch was going bad, but for a couple weeks I was hearing all sorts of screwed up noises; then finally one day the clutch gave out and the pedal went to the floor and never came back. After that, I installed my SPEC Stage 3 clutch and now it's beautiful. There still is a very, very, very slight (I mean very) chatter coming from the new clutch, but from what I have read, that is normal for the SPEC. Anyway, not sure if that is the problem, but I guess it could be a huge number of things. Hope this helps and hope your problem is not a bad one!

I think you mean bent lifter. You can easily take them out and roll them on a table or any flat surface to see if one is bent.

I'm about 99.9999% sure that it's a bent pushrod 
Thankfully they aren't hard to swap out... if you do a search on here, you can find a lot of info/write up's on how to swap them out yourself. It should be easy to locate which side of the motor the ticking is coming from by lifting the hood and listening, should be able to tell which cylinder area it's coming from as well.

You misshifted. You more than likely bent a PUSHROD... Just pick up a set of stockers and swap them all. 1HR install.

Thanks guys. I did it last night and after searching I beleive it's 99% going to be a bent pushrod. I'll take off the valve covers tomorrow and check each one. I always turn my palm to face the pass. door when shifting into 4th so this can't happen but in the race I forgot. Driver error. I'll practise more
