does your car ever get slow to you?
i was driving my car around earlier and i could just swear my car wasn't as fast as it used to be. i don't get on it a lot in my car, but as i tried to remember that last time i did get on it, it seemed like it had more power than this time.
at first i thought it was that little bit of extra oil i put in the engine, thinking that i had slightly overfilled it. but that couldn't be it. my car didn't make any strange noises or rattles and didn't have any smoke coming out of it, but i could swear by anything that it hesitated to reach 5500 rpms. i even hit the limiter once thinking that i wasn't near accelerating enough to be at 6200 rpms right away...
i ever drove it around some more. first gear was bugging me the most, mostly because i couldn't ever go past that gear around town. i just felt a lack of power, and thought that there was more to it than that the last i could remember. then i slid into 2nd gear and chirped 3rd with my stock clutch, and my car is pretty much stock. so i guessed that it was all in my head? then again, it really could be losing power. but that doesn't seem likely under the current circumstances and there not seem be a single problem. am i the only fool this happens to?

I think you just get use to the power...happens to me from time to time. After I smoke someone it makes me realize its still fast. But sometimes...i get in my car and it feels like a jet engine is strapped to it.

Seriously, I think you just got used to the power. Go race someone lesser and re-apply for the thrill LS1license.

When i go to the track i am like i hope i dont get schooled by this stang. I end up running some a mid to low 7s and they are in the 9s.

ya, i went and drove around tonight and it seemed pretty damn fast. i knew i had been getting used to the power, but i think early today i was really thinking about it when i accelerated, and that made it seem much slower than it really was. i also don't like hearing the engine when i'm flooring it, which probably made me think there was a problem, heh. and another thing - if you are on a big open road with nothing around you, accelerating seems very slowed. if you are on a narrow road, as things pass you when you accelerate, it makes the acceleration accelerate

This happens once an awhile too me aswell. When i first bought my camaro i had a difficult time keeping the car the speed limit because one little tap of the gas pedal and im 20 over the speed limit, but know i got used to the sensitive gas pedal and i could control my speed. When I have not driven my car for 3 days it seems like a rocket when i get on the gas. Ive also noticed because of the colder air at night the car is more responsive. The turns were very tough to make at first too much gas and it wanted to fish tail. It was scary at first. If anybody needs help from having your car not fish tail buy a strut tower brace you get more control on the turns and the road and an all around better ride.

It happens to all of us, we just get used to the current power we have. This just makes us modify the care more and more, to keep that "buzz". My previous Formula was a perfect example, I went thru this:
Stock (13.8)
Bolt-Ons (12.6)
Heads/Cam (11.6)
100-shot Nitrous (11.0)
382 Stroker, sold Nitrous (11.0)
434 Stroker (10.6)
It really felt fast with the 382 in it, but I always wanted more and more.....
I'm sure some of you are already in that zone

I still swear that my 96 auto equipped Formula with 3.73s is quicker than my 01 Hawk with SLP longtubes, mini cats and y-pipe. Of course that is just using the ole butt-O-meter. The LT1 however, without a doubt, sounds a lot better/stronger than the LS1.

My car feels slow as ****. I'm always thinkg about my next mod. I've come to the conclusion that I want a 1,000rwhp daily driver.
...and I'm dead serious about that.

Actually now that i think about they are all getting slower. I remember a few cool nights that mine felt super fast again. I havent had mine since this winter but i think the hotter weather is slowing them down a lot. Once it gets cold again we will all think we have rockets again

I am in el paso tx so it gets to be 100 dgree weather over here. I think part is the hot weather, part is electric fans turning on and causing more load on the alternator, filter getting dirty, bad fuel tank that u got from gas station, where they rarely get supreme gas, etc. my gets like that but a few minutes to cool down and its right back to normal. plus I have 8100 ohm resistor on Iat sensor I have to say it really makes a difference. tem reads at 37 degress all the time. I know i can start having bad emissions but I don't have cats anyways so, why not.

This topic has come up before - there are a lot of logical explanations, to be sure, as have been stated above. But there is that other thing that some days your car is more responsive than others for no apparent reason ... I know it doesn't make sense and to state it is to invite ridicule, but I swear it happens ...
