Default 2002 Z28 1/4 mile times.

I went to a test and tune session last friday night and only got one run in. It was a packed night.
1.135 r/t ( concentrating on the launch)
2.187 (60 foot)
5.870
8.888 1/8
82.93 mph
11.40 1000 ft
13.50 1/4
106.9 mph

I am running on GSC's with 28 lbs and launching about 1200 rpm. The car feels like it spins on the 1-2 and 2-3 change. I feel like I'm bogging out of the hole. I can't bring myself to powershift. How much would tires help.

I have seen many M6 with similar mods low 13's. Is my car slow or is it the driver....
Thanks

Thanks

Buy some Nitto's. You'll be 13.20's. WJ.

13.5 @107 is a nice run on your stock tires. You'll be in the low 13's with the right shoes. It's possible to get 1.9x-2.0x 60' on GSC's. Shoot for that.

I had 4,000 miles on it on that run. I have my light set to 5,800 RPM. Should I set my light to 5,900 or will I be hitting the limiter?

I wish I could of made another pass. I am planning to go back in two weeks. I think I will try bracket racing to get more runs in. I won't make it past round one with my r/t but I'll get plenty of test runs.

Thanks for all the info.

I'm no M6 expert since I have an A4, but I'd say you're definitely short shifting. Our LS1's like to rev. For stock internals with an M6 I believe 6,000 rpm's is about right. Any M6 guys want to help this guy out here?

I have a 2002 Artic White WS6, I shift my car at 5800 since peak power is at 5200. Only reason to shift that high is to land in gear at a higher RPM.

Nice time LS1 Therapy. Not a bad first, "and last run" of the night. You would have got atleast 13.2 if you would have stayed and worked on that launch a little. I find that dragging the clutch a little helps the 60' a little. Although my best time is with a horrible 2.1 60' also. "See sig below." I also run street tires with about 20-22 lbs. in them. I get them good and hot. I have gotten a 1.9 60' on them, but I missed 2nd and **** the bed. Powershifting isn't worth the heartache that it can cause. Just shift like your trying to rip the damn thing out of the console! YOur car isn't slow by any means. You just need to tweek her a little. Try shiftin' at about 5800 or so. The car stops making power around 5800, so by the time that you get it into the next gear, you shouldn't have lost that much power. I got my car in the 12's by barely breathing on her. The LS1 is the baddest motor on earth! It takes practice, you'll get it!
