Default Header Problem?

Just installed my new flowtech headers and took it out for a open header run. It was so loud it rattled everything in the car. When i got on it tho it was like it didnt want to go. it was fine driving around town but it was just acting weird at like half throttle, back firing and everything. Any idea what i did wrong or is that what its like with open header due to no backpressure?

And your point is... Nothing like agreeing/2nd'ing an opinion to assure someone more. No need to be a dick!

Thanks,
John Melamed

P.S. (directed to the THREAD!!! not you "god of dickless *****") My friend has a transam and we did his header install and ran it open headers and it ran like a dog. then put true duals on and BAM running like a champ!

Ls1's like a lil backpressure!

Wow!! Nothing like a little drama. Agreed the PCM is confused. I am surprised you are not throwing a bunch of codes. Unless of course you already deleted them.

Good luck

I am throwing a code for the 02s but thats all. I was a 140 and it said 1 of 4 does that mean all my 02 are messed up? Also i have now installed y and i have a loudmouth that i havent changed yet but it is still running the same. not as bad tho. Do i need a tune? could it be the spark plugs or wires? I removed the coil packs and wires from one side i think i put them all back where they come from but if i didnt would that hurt? Also will disconnecting my batter help the pcm?

Maybe it's because your A/F is off. Do you get black smoke pouring out of your tails?

tiger, it's definately a missfire from a wire or broken plug.

I searched and several people have had this same problem.

Ok, wasnt the spark plugs. I have heard that the o2s may have gotten messed up and i should use the back o2s. will the back o2s work connected to the front?

With open headers your o2 sensors might not get accurate readings cause they're too close to the fresh air.

I have the y-pipe on now. I also changed the passenger side spark plugs and wires. I changed the front 02 sensors out for the back ones because some one said they may have messed up. Are the 02 sensors interchangable? I bought flowtech headers which come w/ the extensions could it be that they are bad? How could I know if it was the 02s or not? Since we have determined its not the spark plugs what else could this be? If my a/f ratio was bad off would it throw a code?

This could be as simple as needing a tune. You need to find out what codes you are throwing and go from there. If it was your plugs and such, you would be getting misfire codes. Do a search about some of the symptoms you have, you will see that a lot of this is common when switching to LT's.

I serched and found a lot of the common issues such as tune. but im not blowing out black smoke as they stated. Plugs and wires. Double checked all those. o2s, i changed those.

Maybe its my 02 extensions

could it be a leak that im missing and would it cause problems like this?
