Got some chassis dyno numbers for my 408 today !!
This was done on a Mustag dyno and I should have some dyno jet numbers tomorrow.
I put down 470 rwhp and 433 rwtq with a 3600 lb raceweight plugged in for the load on the Mustang dyno.
Edited in for dynojet numbers
504 HP & 477 FT/LBS STD
496 HP & 468 FT/LBS SAE
This was dyno'd on pump gas
ls6 intake
true duals with spintech mufflers (no cutout)
Hooker 1 3/4 headers (no cats)
60 lb heavy *** z06 replica wheels
full belts w ATI UD pulley (10% UD)
stock rear w 3.42's
30 degrees timing
12.5 - 12.8 a/f ratio
I think on the dynojet I will hit close to 465-470ish tq and right around 500 rwhp but we will see. The APE guys are gonna take the car to the dynojet tomorrow to see what it does and should hopefully have some track times this friday.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Thanks APE, I know I made the right choice in picking you guys to build the motor. From the magazine article to the dyno and even price wise you guys have hooked me up. I'm a pretty damn happy camper right about now
Now what do you guys think ? Should I do an lsx 90 MM and some 1 7/8 headers or just leave it as it is?

thanks for the compliments guys, Hey Allan I was wondering about the cutouts and if the mufflers were hampering me at all cause I know they are not a straight though design. Thanks for the heads up maybe I'll try a couple electric cutouts on this bad boy.

I don't think you will gain 32 hp,but maybe 10-15hp since it is a dual setup. Let us know when you get it back.

Yes, you will see at least 20 with the intake/TB and a few more with the headers. The headers will really shine if you slap the jug to her.
I made 482rwhp and 472rwtq with the 1 7/8" Kooks LT's and LS6 intake. the intake shot me to the numbers in the sig. I dynoed w/almost your identical setup. Heavy SS wheels, full belts, 28 degrees timing, pump gas, 12bolt rear, only I was on a dynojet.
Headers and intake and dynojet and you'll be over 500rwhp.
Great numbers man and good lookin ride...Kilrus got anything for ya yet?

congrats mike...I think you will still see around 490 on dyno jet as is right now
LSX 90mm first, then get the cutouts. Some people actually lose power going to 1 7/8" headers on that type of setup.

probably the headers I will go with will be dynatech stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 and then a 90 mm lsx with a tpis throttle bod. I think as it sits I will hit close to 500 hp on a dynojet and around 465 tq. the dynojet numbers are coming very shortly. It is really interesting to see the difference between engine/mustang/ and soon to be dynojet numbers. I also think my rear end is going so I might even be forced into some 12 bolt numbers soon.
EZ why do you say I might lose power with the bigger headers? I'm thinking its a sure power gain anywhere between 10-20 hp.

I think I read a couple of instances of that on this board. Loss of low end torque, and almost no power gain up top, I think from excavating the exhaust too quickly or something to that effect was the theory. Maybe you can do a search or someone else with firsthand knowledge could pipe in?
