JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY, what are the rules on that? How strict are most of the NHRA tracks about enforcing these rules?

I cant remember but i am damn sure a roll cage, and drive shaft loop. Plus the regular stuff. Catch can and helmet. Then 9s are a chute.

The only things I know are required that they normally check for to run 11.99-10.00 is a 5-6 point roll bar, five point safety harness attached to either floor or roll bar, drive shaft loop, and all the normal stuff like catch can, battery hold down, etc...
To go faster than 10.00, you have to have a full 10 point roll cage and must have it certified/inspected by the NHRA, window net, all SFI stuff, scattershield on the tranny, SFI balancer, flywheel/flexplate, battery cutoff (if mounted in the rear), full fire suite with gloves, shoes, etc... neck collar, NHRA license, some specialty stuff in the rear end, and probably some other stuff that I don't know about. So I would say keep it in the tens!

the above is correct. 11's and 10's are the same. 9's call for more equipment...a chute is require at 150mph, not at a certain ET

you have to have visible aftermarket axles to run below 11, no centecaps on your back wheels

NHRA Rules....IHRA are similar, though the break for things like a rollbar is 11.49 vice 11.99.

12.00 to 13.99 requires the following:

SN90 or better helmet
Driveshaft loop
Long pants

11.00 to 11.99 adds the following:

5/6 pt rollbar (there are specific requirements)
5 pt harness (no more than 2 years old)
Blowproof bellhousing - manual transmissions
SFI jacket

10.00 to 10.99 adds the following:

SFI Balancer
C-clip eliminators
Aftermarket axles
Transmission shield - automatic transmissions

9.99 and quicker adds the following:

Full roll cage (specific requirements)
Window net
SFI pants, boots, gloves, neckbrace, etc
SFI flexplate
NHRA Competition license
NHRA Chassis Certification (every 3 years)

Yes, but wheel stud length is not determined by ET, it is determined by what wheels you have.

Short story...if you have Weld Wheels, you'll need longer studs. If you have Centerlines, you will not. Basically, the stud needs to stick all the way through the wheel and protrude well into the nut.

I thought 10.99 was the bump for the SFI flexplate, not 9.99...

No sir...at least not according the rulebook. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Page 22, E.T., Section 2 (Drivetrain), Automatic:
