skinnies for snow tires?
My 315 Nitto DR aren't going to cut it for winter. Thinking about buying a set of Weld Pro Stars for the strip. Could I use the fronts in back for snow wheels and tires? If so what tire would you recommend?
thanks Mike

Skinnies in back..WOW! You`d go nowhere fast and that would be one scary ride in the snow, besides it would looks so dumb. Skinnies have hardly any tread.
Tirerack has some good deals on snow tire/wheel combos.
I just bought some salad shooters and dunlop winter tires.. they stick like glue

No offense, but this has got to be one of the silliest posts I have ever seen.
If you want snow traction, buy a set of take-off rims, and get some Blizzaks or similar snow tires for winter driving. I've seen used 16x8 rims go for under $100/4, so it's not going to break the bank. I think SLP sells 4 new takeoff rims for $200.
But don't put skinnies on the back. Unless you're driving a Volkswagen Beetle <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

<img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> not only is that ridiculous, but skinnies wouldn't even fit on the rear <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

If you're worried about driving in the snow, just get a an extra set of stock 17" wheels and put some Bridgestone Blizzaks LM-22s on them. You should be able to run the LM-22s with the 255/40R17 or 245/40R17 on a stock 17" wheel.
Or you can be a guts ball player and drive your Nitto DRs to December 24th like I did last year. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I did it for a while cause I had a flat but I live in Texas where there is NO SNOW and it was still a scary ride. I wouldn't even consider riding them in the rain like that.
