Default ls6 cam dropping off at 6000

Normally a '02 ls6 cam would make power all the way up to 6300-6500 on a stock headed car. My cam dropped off at 6000. Made a peak of 379 rwhp there.

'02 ls6 cam
Comp 918 springs with stock retainers
HS rockers
stock '99 heads, valves, etc

What would cause the cam to drop off ~400 rpms early?

Sorry, should have been more specific with the mods. Forgot to mention Thunder Racing hardened pushrods (stock length) up there, but that shouldn't matter.

Have full bolt ons done. Lid, ported TB, ls6 intake, UD pulley, headers, dual cutout y pipe, hooker catback. The works basically.

actually, its probably the heads... the LS6 heads flow better on the top end, but looking at the dyno chart in the new GMHTP on the Z06, it peaks at 5800, and drops at 6000...

I sure wouldnt expect the LS6 cam in an LS1 motor to make peak power at 6300 rpm.

Mine peaked at 6000 rpms and held nearly flat to 6500 rpms (only lost a couple of hp). I had stock heads and LS6 intake.

When I had mine, this is what I saw also. You might want to check your preload. Was the cam installed professionaly?

The cam was installed by a local guy who really knows his stuff. He had his car running 10.0 before going a different route. Anyways, yes, I am positive it was installed correctly.

I completely forgot about checking the preload when I put the HS rockers back on. Thank you!
