Unhappy 3" Duals hang too low, what are my options?

After lowering my car, the 3" duals definitly aren't road freindly. Before lowering it would hit speed bumps, so now I cant even think about going over them. In fact now regular driving will bottom out the mufflers. Part of the problem is the bigass 4x9 Magnaflows that don't really fit. But I dont want to get rid of them because they sound so damn good. Nor do I want to go back to a y-pipe set-up. So what are my options? I am thinking of trying to get dual 3" over the axle by lowering the PHR and fabbing up a new upper PHR, which shouldn't be too hard. Or I can go under the axle, which I think won't fix the ground clearence issue. OR, maybe going over the axle with one pipe on each side, like mustangs. This will take some work on the driver side though. If I end up going out the back, I think I will have to revert to bullet mufflers for appearence reasons. Mayne not though, all speculation so far.

Any ideas? Thanks

If you wanna keep the Magnaflows, you're going to have to mod the floorboard. Once you've created some space. You can tuck the mufflers up higher. Do a search for SSONYOURSIX. He's running Borla XR-1's and they're 1/2 thicker than the Magnaflows.

Just find a clean way press up the rear seat area, and tuck the mufflers up higher.

Just one way of doing it.

Thats a good idea. I dont have any rear seats, so I can hammer up that area and cover it with the mats or fab up a piece of wood. I am still wanting to do over the axle mustang style, if anyone has info on this...

I haven't heard the magnaflows on duals before, but the sweet thunder chamber mufflers sound better than the bullets do in my opinion. You'll also gain a lot of ground clearance going this route (I did anyways). The bullet mufflers sound really deep, but they also eliminate some of the sound from the exhaust. I like to hear a lumpty-lump growl myself.

Are you using that Country Boy? I've seen some threads around here talking about that, but I never saw anybody actually try it out.

Nah, I took the duals off and went back to a Y setup.... MUCH happier now with less interior noise and I dont scrape everything in the road.

I was thinking of that BMR kit, but dont feel like paying for it, and I am not sure it will work with a lowered car.

Where can I find the sweet thunder mufflers? I like my Magnaflows, they are EXTEMELY deep, deeper than any car I have ever heard in my life.

Ferocity, have you thought of going with 2.5" True Duals over the axle?
Edelbrock RPM mufflers are also only 3 5/8" deep.

Tuck them up under the rear seats. Cut/weld the floor boards or use a BFH.
