Default Piston swap, engine still in car??? 2001 C5

I know this info is here but I cannot find it with the search engine....

I want to pull the pasenger-side front piston with the motor still in the car. Is there a way to drop the oil pan and get to the rod bolts??? Have head already off and then push piston out top, without pulling the motor???

Is this possible and if so what kind-of nightmare and I am headed for????

Thanks,

it can be done on the F-Body's, so I'm sure it can be done on the vette but not positive. You will have to drop the k-member under the engine while having a jack hold the engine up. From there you can remove the oil pan, remove the passenger head and then you can pop the piston out of the top after removing the rod bolts. Been done before , I don't think it would be that difficult if you have the proper equipment to hold the engine up.

Just did the rod bolt upgrade in my car (f-body), should give you some idea of what you need to do, IF it's ok to just swap out the rod/piston, here's a little write-up...

From what I heard, the k-member on a C5 is not in the way of the oil pan, which would make it MUCH easier. But I've never been under a C5.

You can pull it from the top, but you have to drop the cradle down far enough for the oil pan to clear it (the cradle) when you pull the engine forward to get it off the torque beam shaft.

I think he is talking about a C5 Vette. They are different than pulling from an F-body.
