Default The most impressive car at the Shootout in my opinion....

I know this is going to surprise alot of people but it was Nineball's. The man drove the car to the event, changed tires and ran mid tens all day. Tony was in the finals in the bracket race with his six speed car against a Stock Eliminator car and almost won.... it was close.

Most of you know that Tony and I are at odds sometimes but I pride myself being a strait shooter and calling things as I see it so,
Great job Tony... you da man!!!!

Major thumbs up to Tony for his cool ride and great driving skills.

Kudos to you Joe, for calling 'em like you see 'em.

I agree. To drive your car all the way from Houston, run TWO classes, run mid 10's, and almost win one of them is very impressive.

Correction: Tony may have driven the car from the Hotel to the track, but his car was trailered from Houston to Donaldsonville.

Anyhow, I was impressed with Tony's car too, he actually SHOULD have won the bracket class, but because the other car was a local they let him get by without making his byrun
Anyways, great job Tony.

Thanks Joe, I had a great time. I wanted that win BADLY in the finals, definitely one of the best races I'll ever see in a lifetime. Maybe I shouldn't have stayed up all night and raced all day with a hangover, my R/T might have been better than .571 haha

We also had some fun using my car for beer runs the night before, and I gave a few test rides for the hell of it. I think PSJ wants a dual-dual muffler now after hearing how docile my car sounds running thru it with the same cam he has.

NHRA rule said all you have to do is take the light to advance to the next round..no need to cross the traps at the other end. The guy was a true racer..didn't want to put the stress on the car for a "show" pass. Awesome runs tony and congrats on a 2nd place in a manual car.

All you have to do is full stage and break the beams. It didn't have anything to do with the guy being local as you stated. Tony lost fair and square as I'm sure he'll tell you. It was a great race.

Didn't bother me, I didn't hear about him not getting a timeslip until the awards ceremony anyways. Besides, I wanted to race! Awesome race, will make an excellent video to post soon

I got a kick out of seeing Tony race the 15 second V6 in the brackets lol. I KNOW he had to be getting jumpy waiting that long for the lights to go down but when they did he sure as hell caught him quick

Actually, the stocker should not have been in the finals because 2 rounds earlier, he staged to the wrong dial in and lost. The dial-ins for him (11.xx) and the Corvette he raced (13.xx) were transposed on the boards, but BOTH drivers staged to the wrong dial-in. Naturally, the slower car won because the faster car broke way out. But ALL tracks, NHRA or IHRA, have a rule that says if you stage to the wrong dial in, you are accepting that dial-in. He lost and that should have stood. That is NOT a re-run situation. The starter agreed with me and so did another Stocker driver who was in attendance. They put the dial-in on the board SO THAT you can verify that it's correct. If it's not, you don't stage. You notify the starter and wait for him to have the tower rectify the mistake. Once you stage, you buy the dial in and you have to accept whatever outcome you get as a result of it. He's an NHRA racer and he should have known better than to ask for a re-run. I was very disappointed that they allowed a re-run for that race.

Neither lane got a time or win light. There was a computer error on that run and the lights were not working. He did not ask for a rerun, both cars were informed that they HAD to rerun. It was strange that the times were reversed and the computer glitch but that's how it happened.

Tony had a sweet ride.. But, my vote for the most impressive driver goes to Pricilla (sp?) With the purple Formula. She drove to the event, from Chicago, changed her own tires (I got the pics), and blasted off 11.8's in a bolt on car. When she left Derty made the comment that she still had her skinnies on. Very impressive, especially considering that it rained all the way home, until we hit Illinois!! When was the last time you drive your car 1100 miles on skinies, in the rain?

Paul- Thanks for clearing that up. I had spoken with the Corvette driver after the first race and he made it sound as if he had been given a win light and winning time slip. If no winner was determined by the computer, you HAVE to have a re-run. Thanks again

My vote goes for Priscilla as well. Sorry guys, but she was probably the only one that drove the car any substantial distance and kicked ***.
