Default TP4000 Vs. Vigilante 3200?

Im going to upgrade converters in a few months and i really like the TP4000 because of it's price range and it will not be super loose during daily driving. I would like to go with the TP4400 but i don't know how i would like it during daily driving? I currently run 3.73s and pull around 2300 rpms at 60mph on the HWY,what should i exspect with the TP4000 or TP4400 track and daily driving wise over the Vigil.3200?

Have you seen this thread in the Drivetrain section? It answered all my questions regarding the switch from Vig3200 to YTP 4000-4400.

Vig 3200 to PT4400, what did you gain?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the Pro Thruster 4000, but it is in no way, shape or form a tight converter. Going from a Vig 3200 to a PT4000 is a big hit in drivability. There is a bonus to all this looseness though. You will be as deadly from a roll as you are at the track. This converter ROCKS at WOT. It's just at 10-25% throttle that it sucks ***.

I wish there was a converter available that had the drivability of the Vig 3200 and the track ability of the YPT4000.

Ever consider a TCS Phoenix Pro? I run one and it cut my 60's 0.1 over my Ultra Yank and cost me nothing up top.

We carry these and they are less expensive than the Yanks or the Vig. Carry a 3 year warantee too. Unlimited free re-stalls.

There is. It's called the Yank Super Stock 4000. Drivability close to the Vig 3200 (even though it stalls higher), will out 60' the PT4000 by a fair margin. The PT4000 will catch it by the end of the 1/4 mile, but if drag racing is your bag, the new 21 blade stator in the Yank Super Stock converters is hard to beat.

Patrick,so do you think for what i want the Yank Super Stock will be the ticket? I don't really mind leaving the lights at 2700 cause i already leave them at around 2300-2500 but with the 3.73s the PT4000-4400 should not be all that bad?

I've had a Pro Thruster 4400 in my '98 Z-28 with 3.23 gears. It was pretty loose, but I loved the low ETs. With my SS Convertible, it's more of a pimp car, so looseness is a little harder for me to stomach. I had a Pro Thruster 4000 with 3.73 gears. That combination was certainly liveable...I drove it every day for months. Before that, I had the excellent Super Thruster 3500. Going from the ST3500 to the PT4000 was a big step backwards in drivability, but a nice one forward in performance. Like I said, the Pro Thrusters ROCK at WOT. If you are looking for maximum performance and put drivability second, then you'll want to choose the Pro Thruster over the Super Stock. For me, I wanted 99% of the performance with 200% of the drivability of the Pro Thruster. That's why I like my Super Stock converter.

I just put the PT4400 in my car with stock 3.23 gears on Thursday (had the Vig 3200). I put a couple hundred miles on it and don't think the drivability is that bad at all. Definitely looser, but no where near as bad as everyone makes it sound.

Priscilla, thanks i guess that is what im going with. Looks like im going to have to work my 2 week Christmas vacation and get some converter money. What do you guys think i'll gain with my current setup? I'm looking for 11.30s with the 4400 as is without a pulley or LS6 intake yet.

Priscilla, how much rpm difference is there between the Vig3200 and the TP4400 for around town driving? You and I have the same gears (3.23), so your input is very valuable to me.
