Default Mach 1 killed my new GTO, twice.

Happend from a light both times. He would shoot out by 3-4 cars right away and then I would hang with him till 100.

In my defense, I have only had the car a week and can not drive a stick for ****. I am learning.

It takes time, im a newbie to manual cars too. Just get some good tires and practice a little and go find that mach 1 and smoke em.

Wow, at least you're not afraid to race your brand new car. Nice deaths. Those Mach's will give you a run for your money with a good driver though, so don't be discouraged.

In the fast fords mag the mach pulled a better 1/4 mile time but the GTO had 2 mph on the mach. Practice makes perfect.

Doubtful that simply adding "good tires" will make the outcome that much different, assuming the Mach 1 owner can drive halfway decent.

The best ET from a stock GTO WITH drag radials was SLP's 13.1X (private owners aren't even coming close to that number),
and numerous owner-driven Mach 1's have run that time (or better) with the stock (hard) rubber out back.

Also remember, the GTO weighs ~ 300 lbs more than the Mach but doesn't have all that much more hp/tq (~ 330 for the Mach & 350 for the GTO, with the same torque).

The very same magazine that reported this http://www.stangbangers.com/01_Bullitt_Article2.htm

What's your point exactly?

Everything I said was true, and easily verifiable.

Don't believe everything you read.

My Mach (bone-stock) dynoed at 282 rwhp/306rwtq.
After adjusting for driveline loss, that's ~ 332 crank hp & 360 crank torque.
My stock dyno sheet:

The Mach 4 valve engine is just slightly under-rated from the factory...

I was shocked the Mach only won by less than a tenth in the issue i saw.I drove a mach a few weeks ago. They hook better off the line than any stock LS1 i have drove.

Dang, you're engine looks like it has arthritis.... Yes, should be a pretty good race between a stock 2004 GTO and a Mach...The GTO is a tank. Won't be much of a problem when the 2005 GTO gets the 405hp Ls6

I guess you didnt happen to read the Pontiac mag that posted the exact same results since it was both magazines that did the comparison together.......................

I can't speak for other Mach 1 owners, but I for one won't be losing any races to the '05 GTO when they hit the streets...

Unless I'm wrong, fast fords compared the Cobra to the GTO, for one of those yesterdays muscle car reborn, and they prefered the GTO although it was slightly slower then Fords Cobra.

As for beating the 05 GTO's, I would worry about the older ones myself, they are pretty scary at the track.
