Mach 1 killed my new GTO, twice.
Happend from a light both times. He would shoot out by 3-4 cars right away and then I would hang with him till 100.
In my defense, I have only had the car a week and can not drive a stick for ****. I am learning.

The best ET from a stock GTO WITH drag radials was SLP's 13.1X (private owners aren't even coming close to that number),
and numerous owner-driven Mach 1's have run that time (or better) with the stock (hard) rubber out back.
Also remember, the GTO weighs ~ 300 lbs more than the Mach but doesn't have all that much more hp/tq (~ 330 for the Mach & 350 for the GTO, with the same torque).

My Mach (bone-stock) dynoed at 282 rwhp/306rwtq.
After adjusting for driveline loss, that's ~ 332 crank hp & 360 crank torque.
My stock dyno sheet:
The Mach 4 valve engine is just slightly under-rated from the factory...

Unless I'm wrong, fast fords compared the Cobra to the GTO, for one of those yesterdays muscle car reborn, and they prefered the GTO although it was slightly slower then Fords Cobra.
As for beating the 05 GTO's, I would worry about the older ones myself, they are pretty scary at the track.
