Default Is there any way to remove welded-on SFCs?

Is there any way to remove some boxed SFCs and re-weld a set of chrom moly tubular ones in their place? Will cutting off the old SFCs cause any problems? Has anybody done this? Thanks a lot!

If all there are is a few stitch welds you should be able to just grind em with grinder until they pop(yes, most of them will POP). Please wear safety glasses and gloves with a long sleeve shirt if possible. OH yeah, a friend would help to keep the sfc from falling on your head.

<---SAC, hates it when things fall on his head. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Thanks man, I'll have to add that mod to my list now that I know it isn't a real big deal.

Take a ziz-wheel and go to work. It will take you a WHILE, but if the welds aren't to serious you should be able to get them off. I am going to tackle this task myself soon.....

Yes, I have personally done that before on a several of cars. It is a lot work. Take your time and be carefull around the fuel lines.

I torched mine off for the most part and grinded down the welds etc. remaining. I saved atleast 7lbs going to tubular chromoly from boxed.
