TR224 people Come In........Please
This weekend I finished up my cam swap, everything went good except for the pulley it was kinda of a bitch to take it off and then to put it back on. I think I can offer some pointers on anyone trying it. All in all it went pretty smooth. Couple questions though, for TR224 112 guys. Idle is decent without A/C on. With A/C it wants to die. Power wise it feels the same as my stock cam no SOTP diffrence yet. Are both normal? I dont have many lil bolt ons yet, how much difference can I expect once I get my headers and a throtle body and all tuned up? Should I be worried? Mods in my sig. Thanks guys.

I just got finished my cam install this weekend and i felt a big differance. Idle is good right around 750 I took my a/c out so i dont know about that. You might want to get some lts to help it breathe a little better. I installed my kooks about 3 weeks ago and felt a good gain with those as well.

First off, congrats on the install. Secondly, the factory manifolds are killing your power increase to a certain degree. Its nothing to worry about, its just the reality of air flow. it means you have that much more to look forward to when you put the headers on. On the factory tune, I run about a 50/50 ratio on the idle with the A/C on. Half the time it dies, half the time it doesn't. I'm a tops off, windows down kinda guy anyway, so it doesn't really affect me, but tuning will fix this problem. Bump the rev limiter as well.

Well I do have a Ls6 intake installed. Only exhaust I have done is the catback gutted cats and Y pipe, thats why i waited on headers at the moment. I figured that would of been ok for the cam for now. But you guys say its not enough? I need headers to really make the cam shine?

I have the same cam in my car, and to tell you the truth I didnt really notice the difference either. I am going to have to agree with the 50/50 remark also. Car likes to die sometimes, but others it runs just fine. Drill out the throttle plate a little to help. Headers will help a lot with the cam. Just a side note, I ran my car at Great Lakes and ran a 12.88 my friend had the same amout of things done to his car however instead of the cam he had a 75 shot and he ran a 12.9 that night. So if my track had better track preps and I had some better tires im sure id be mid to lower 12's. So just because you cant feel the power doesnt mean it isnt there.

I'm surprised you didn't feel a nice gain. I know I felt the gain once my cam was in, even on stock tuning. I do have a set of long tubes though. You should really feel it once your LT's are on, I'm willing to bet those stock manifolds are holding you back quite a bit.

Dont drill it, Yet the post you refer too, had people complaining for the car suddenly surging while you're deccelarating. Im worried if I should just wait or start messing with things not proven ie. drilling the throttle body or adjusting the screw on the TPS. Any proven suggestions or comments for a temp. idle fix I need A/C guys it was freaking humid and hot today..........

Nice choice on the cam. I agree with all the above statements about how your stock manifolds are killing any chance of making power. However you should feel an increase in power over your stock cam. Your foot must be stepping on the brake instead of the loud pedal! J/K Add a set of long tubes, 3" ORY, Ported Throttle Body along with a LS1 Edit tune and come back and see us!!!

If you install Headers and a Lid then you'll feel it. Mine pulls Nicely from 2800 up to rev-limiter on the stock tune. I didn't drill my throttle plate. Removed the throttle body and reversed the screw so I could make adjustments w/o having to pull it off. I have mine Idling @ 750 rpm's, it's a little low to run the A/C at Idle but 900 should cure your problem. Be advised opening the blade in place of a "Tune" isn't a permanent solution. You'll need to reset the Zero position. Their is a procedure for doing this on this site. Use the search feature to locate it. I can send you a PM if you cannot locate it. I'm @ work now so...
