you may want to try posting this up in the camaro section .....or maby one of the mods will move it to the appropriate section....or if you want the answer "drop a ls1 in it" go up to the hybred section..

Well, outside of completely rebuilding the engine and modifing it that car it will be slow. That year is near the peak of the smog choking era.

AFR heads, a good cam (not some off the wall parts store special), good intake a carb that's not too big.

Yep, look at the GM Performance Parts catalog. A decent set of aluminum heads (Vortec), some Hooker longtubes, a nice mild cam, a 650 cfm carb, and it'll be a nice little runner.

I need to get mine back on the road. Been 2 years of being a dust bunny.

Mine ran 16's up in Amarillo @ 500ft DA (probably running lean on the carb, but I said screw that carb stuff and stuck an EFI TBI system on my car ). For comparisons, stock LT1s run high 14's/15.0's, LS1's run low 14's.

The Vortec heads are over rated. Everyone thinks if they've got "Vortec", it's like they've got some magical engine. Really, they are just cheap, and that's the only thing going for them.

If you want to make real power from a SBC, just go with the AFR's. It'll be money well spent.
