Default I think I have everything in line to run 10's n/a: just need help w/a cam choice.

It seems like it's nearly impossible to run 10's n/a on a stock motor but nowadays it's becoming the standard. I've got some great flowing ported/polished LS6 heads to go on my 99FRC Vette. They were not milled or decked so there's plenty of room. Here are the #'s

Lift Intake Exhaust
200 119 101
300 184 146
400 241 181
500 288 212
600 313 228
650 320 230

I'm willing to go as aggressive as I need to. I just want you guys to tell me what's worked for you. Some of the supporting mods are 3.90's on a MN6, built tranny, blackwing, LS6 intake, and kook's 1 7/8in. headers w/a 3" pipe to the borla catbacks. Also, I'll be running a 150shot on top of everything, but I still want 10's n/a.Cartek (who seems to have some of the fastest n/a cars in the country) said that they would go w/a 226/230 .581/.591 on a 113 lsa. That didn't seem big enough to be able to go 10's, but they said the power curve is perfect. And then I've heard you have to get into the 240's duration to get into the 10's n/a. So I've given up and I just want to ask the experts what they've used to do it. I know w/a ccw drag setup I can get my 60 ft.'s into at least the 1.5's. I've gone 1.6's on DR's, so hopefully the driving won't be an issue. I just want to get your opinions, what's worked for you. Thanks a lot guys!!--Andy

It just depends on what route you want to go there should be no problem what so ever running ten's with a heads cam car since there are 10 sec n/a cam only cars. Do you plan on fly cutting the pistons? If not I would probably go with a Futral FM9 or a LG motorsports G5X2 the LG cam held the cam only record for a long time at 10.9's in a 01 Z28 So with either of these cams with your heads and a good tune should run in the tens. G5X2 specs are 232 240 @.050 .595 .608 112 LSA

I would take the advise of Cartek since they have more experience and knowledge than most everyone. Their results speak for themselves.

Not planning on fly-cutting since I will be using N20...Yea, I agree, Cartek know's there stuff, I just find it so hard to believe I could hit 10's on that small of a cam.

cartek does have some some stout cars but like every one will tell you its all about the package. carteks cams seem to do well when matched to their heads. that being said i would go with the G5X2 or call Futural and see what they recomend.

Cartek does have some fast cars (I have seen them run in person). However, I find that cam recommendation a little strange or funny. I could be wrong, but I recall them always bragging about running cams smaller than that in vettes running 10's.

I would agree that Cartek knows their stuff, and their packages seem to do well. However, many of their best times do occur with very good DA (-1000 to -2000 or better) and a good track. I know several vettes on corvetteforum post 1.4x 60's.

My experience is that you will need a bigger cam particularly in a 6sp. The ET streets will help. I don't mind driving a pretty aggressive cam on the street (SR 244/253 .689/.698 110). However, most (if not all) of the NA 10 second cars that I have seen have very aggressive cams, and they are not nearly as streetable as many people would claim.

Now me, I took my dumps off this weekend so that I could really hear my cam although some of my neighbors aren't as inclined to the sound!
