Question descreen with FIPK or not

I've been reading alot lately about descreening the MAF and wondered if having a fipk and a descreened MAF on a '02 Z28 would make a difference or not...would it be a good idea to descreen or leave it

I say leave it. You never know when something freaky may happen then you would have a bunch of **** in your TB and intake, to me personally its not worth the risk

I have a FIPK with a descreened MAF sensor; no problems here. Mine is a 99 with an M6. I wouldn't descreen if you have an automatic.

You don't need to upgrade. I think that the stocker even with the screen on is good for a little over 600hp. If you are careful you can remove the screen in such a way that you can always just put it back on if you start having driveability issues. Just my .02

yea, you're apparently stuck on this maf issue. the ONLY reason you want to mess with the maf is if you can TUNE the differences. the maf is a VERY sensitive peice of equipment.....leave it be. even cleaning it harshly is a bad idea. porting the stocker, or getting ported ends, alters the air flow...which ***** up the pcm's computations(which is why it must be tuned for). all around bad ****** idea.

also....if you port and polish the stock heads...then, by all rights...they wouldn't be stock heads any more, would they??
