Correct Front Engine Seal?
The front seal that came with my gasket kit has a different part number than the part number listed on jmx's site, and it's black as opposed to the brownish color of the stock seal. The part number Jon lists is 12561244, the one with my gasket kit is 12585673. Even though it looks different, it seems like it would work: the opening looks like it's the same diameter, and it seems to be the same circumference as the original.
I want to make sure I got the right seal before I install it. Has anyone a gotten a front seal that's a different color and looks a little different than the original crank seal, and did it work okay?

Thanks hourang, it must be the same type I got from TR.

I just put a new front seal on mine and gave the dealership the number from jmx's site. The dealer told me the number had changed. It was black, and aside from being torn to pieces (after I removed it from the timing cover), it looked the same as my stocker.

Predator: yes, my old seal was black. Not sure why yours would be brown, unless it had burned oil on it. Most of the parts inside my timing cover were a festive brown color.
2xLS1: the new seal went in much easier than the old one came out, but I still put a little RTV around the edge and had it pressed in, just for safety.

I'm glad I posted this because I had no plan of using RTV on the seal, now I do.
I hope this "different" seal works out.

Hey Marc, I think I'm all set with this new seal. I appreciate it.
I finished the cam install, but I still got the springs to do. I didn't want to bother you unless I got absolutely stuck and couldn't move ahead. I'm kinda worried about getting the pulley back on, and the springs of course. In any event, you're welcome to stop by if you want, even to just check out my car. I'll be working on it most of Friday probably into the weekend. Let me know.

Just wanted to let you fellas know that I put in the new seal. It seems as if it was designed to be used with RTV because the outer circumference has a series of grooves across the width, and around the outside, that is helpful for applying and locking-in RTV. The stock one was perfectly smooth around the circumference.
I removed the original seal by placing a huge socket on the seal (a little smaller than the seal) and hammering from the backside of the timing cover. It came out easily and the timing cover didn't get nicked up.
