Default Need help, 427 Oil sump hitting pan

Everything is ready to roll but I cant get the oil pan on all the way b/c the oil sump tube is hitting the oil pan. Its hitting right were it makes its final bend to the pick up screen. I know I can noch the pan but Im wondering if anyone else has run into this problem.

The block came with main studs which I am guessing are ARP or something like it. Anyway they hold the windage tray a little lower then a stock motor and there for hold the braket for the oil sump tube down a little further. I think this and the spacing on the roll-master timeing chain are causeing it to hit.

Its a 427 c5r block with a stock z06 pan and stock oil sump.

Its going in a vette, not the car in my sig....I know a vette pan won't fit a f-body.

Thanks for the help

You should actually clearance the oil pickup and tube. I usually cut the "stand" portion that bolts to the stud. I remove about a 1/4", and then weld it back together. If you don't clearance this, the pickup may not have sufficient space to draw oil out of the pan.

I have ARP main studs as well. Do f-bod oil pans have the same problem?

I don't think so.....a f-body oil pan is alot deeper and more open inside then a z06 pan

I was actually refering to the f-body, but I assume a C5 would also need extra room.
