ok so my buddy just got his new 03 cobra (1xxx miles on the clock)
this is his third mustang after he just totalled his 02GT vert with lots of bolt-ons. ever since ive had my TA hes been on a mission to beat me. something his prior mustangs were never able to achieve. anyway so hes back from school for the weekend and called me out. so we are heading out to our other friends house for some BBQ and finaly have a chance to give em a run.
so here it goes

car1= 03 cobra 1000miles 100% stock /w 250lb passanger.
car2= 00 trans am M6 61k no passanger.(mods in sig)
so first, we get a go from around 35mph. we both hit it at the same time and by the time i hit 4th(90mph) hes about a car length behind.
next we get on the highway and proceed to go from about 50mph.
we both hit it at the same time and i mean the EXACT same time. and by the time im at 110mph hes behind my rear bumper. i even give him the jump from 45mph on the highway once and i still end up realing him in.
what gives? is this right? i would have expected a lot more from the oh-so-feared 03 cobra. now before you all go off about how hes a bad driver, let me just tell you that he is indeed a very good driver so i wouldnt even consider the possibility of "driver error." but does this sound right from a basically stock ls1 ???????

someone please let me know!!!!

also- the reason we didnt race from a dig is because my tires are bald and would be a waste of time. plus my rear-end cant take it, just ask my old one.

Well anything is possible. Maybe his car need to be broken in a bit. He may even have a slug or you might have a freak. Kick him while he is down because once he start modding you have a big problem on your hands if you don't do some bigtime modding. Nice Kill.

true, a while back i walked all over this cam/LT's/converter WS6, he was furious when i pulled over and said i was stock, he refused to beleive i didnt have nitrous.. some people.....

Good kills. Those 4.10's are giving you the edge. Get yourself a cam once he starts modding.

IMO the 4.10 are probably hurting him in the 50mph+ area. From a dig, the 4.10 are def great, but from a roll, he is powerband is not gonna be in the same area as a car with stock gears. I would like to run one with the 4.10 from both to get some clarity on this though.

BTW, good kill, I think with the mods you have and him being stock, it's prob a drivers race, except from a dig, then it's you.

Yeah u got to watch out for those 03 cobras bro. i got my *** killed by a 03 cobra with cat back, intake and pulley. he absolutly destroyed me. im out for vengence once i get me cam and LT headers, hope its enough

i agree, the 4.10's seem like a little much for my car, eats rear-ends, ruins transmissions, lots of wear-and-tear on the car all together. dont get me wrong its fun on the street, but way to much shifting, and dont even think about trying to race above 115mph. i can see how they would be good if you can actually hook up off the line, but enough tire to get you to hook up will just break the shitty 10-bolt. and all that power off the line has been stolen from your top-end stomp.
all and all
i would preffer the stock gear.

It's the 4.10s!!!!!!.............Also, them Cobras ain't easy to drive. Even if your buddy is a great driver, he still needs seat time in that car. I say give him a little time and even without mods, it will be a better race. Nice kill. Keep him honest and go get ya some more mods(and a rear end).

Interesting, you don't even have an exhaust. I won't call b.s., I ran a buddy's 04 Cobra with like 2xx miles on the car and we'd hit off from a 50 roll and every time i'd start to walk away. I had a similar experience, where he'd be at my back bumper slowly falling back from like 50-110. My mods are slp lid, pro 50, 3" duals, 3" xpipe.

I beat a stock 03 in my car when i just had a !muffler, and a lid. Me and my buddy in the car me 250lbs and buddy 200 lbs. the guy in the cobra was probably 200 lbs. We went from a 40 roll, went from 2nd to third al the way to the top of third, and then shut down with him at my rear fender. I realy think my car is a freak, I beat my buddies TA with just lid/!muffler, his ta has longtubes ORY, lid, magnaflow catback, and i beat him by 1 car, and now before you say he cant drive, before the headers i used to beat him by 4 cars anyway, my Z is a freak
