Default OMG, somebody PLEASE help me (60 foot's)

Took the Trans AM to the track for the first time ever today. I ran TERRIBLE 60's. My best was a 2.32 and my worst was a 2.5. How do I get them better? What technique?

I tried everything. I bogged BAD, I spun BAD, and did everything in between and could not get better than a 2.32 60' . I know that the stock tires SUCK, but shouldn't they be around 2.0-2.1???

I bypassed the waterbox and did a very short 1 second "burnout" to just clean the tires. I tried various launch rpm's and letting the clutch out at different speeds.

My best ET and MPH are in my sig below. I was really happy with the 109 MPH, and it's obvious the car has MUCH better ET's in it. I had no problems with any shifts and shifted every gear at 6000 rpm. Sound right?

Talking to some buddies that went tonight... I have a friend with a stock auto tranny LT1 Camaro with Nitto Drag Radials and he ran a best 60' of 2.25 all night. I raced a ZO6 that ran a 2.3 60' and only 13.5 @ 112 MPH. And looking at the 60' times on all 8 timeslips I got tonight, the best 60' on any of them is a 2.119, that was by a modded WS6 LS1 that ran 12.77 @ 113.97 MPH. I'm wondering how bad the track prep was, Milan is notorious for terrible track prep. I don't know HOW MUCH of a difference prep can make though, 2.3-2.5 secs is pretty bad.

Hmmm, just IM'd 2 guys that went to Milan with me tonight and had them check their slips. Best 60's on any of their slips was 1.949 by a 12 sec Lightning w/ ET Streets. That is out of their combined 24 timeslips.

Track prep has a lot to do with it. I have been to one track that I can't get any better than a 2.5, yet another track where I run consistent 2.0 on my stock tires.

Yeah, I think track prep could be the problem. I run low 1.9's in the 60 consistantly at Atco raceway in new jersey. I recently got a 1.898 on thursday, and those were on my street tires.

Hey Buckeye- I went to Milan last Sunday and the best 60' I could muster was a 2.1x on Kumho's. I had a few 2.2's and 2.2x's. Pretty embarrasing actually. I was still able to click off a 12.6@114mph nitrous pass though. Everyone had problems with traction. Guys in modded WS6's were running 13.5@110. One guy in a WS6 trapped ran a 13.4 I think @ 110mph on a 2.7 60'. I have that timeslip since I hosed his *** on that run. You're right, Milan is notorious for poor to zero track prep. I cut 1.9x-2.0x at Norwalk on stock 16" GSC's.

When are you going to Milan again?

I should mention that I didn't spray until mid second gear because of the poor traction.

I can't fault you there. Norwalk is a great track. It's too far for me (2.5-3hours) to go often.
