Default patriot gold life?

Hey guys. I'm just wondering if the patriot golds are still considered to be excellent springs. I just got the whole kit but don't have them installed yet. I must have bought them right before tsp dropped them. With the torquer cam (233/233 .589,.589 112) how long do you think they will last? I don't plan on going to the track at all for awhile since i don't have money to replace broken parts right now. (college student) So with normal everyday driving, with just a few romps and street races, can i expect 35k out of em?

I just think its odd that companies like Texas Speed are dropping Patriot Performance as of late.

Doesn't surprise me really, having been through 3 sets of Patriot heads & one engine.

The PP"Gold" springs do not have any record to date of any failure if installed properly.
TSP dropped Patriot mostly because of their inconsistancies in head quality/flow products not the springs. The springs are one of (if not the) best on the market at the moment.

So how long do you think they'd last with my cam and normal driving.

Maybe pull one spring and check it every 10-15k. That's the plan on mine.

Thanks. I think I'll up mine to 15-20k since my car isn't a track car. Is their anything special I need to know when installing these? Do I need to shim anything? Also, will these springs kill my stock rockers and lifters sooner? thanks again!

A local friend of mine had broken 4 of the so far...... with a TSP 231/237 cam..... the 2nd spring did save the motor....... and you can really tell when you break one.... he replaced them all with a set from Comp. HMMMMMM

Also interested in mileage on those springs at time of breakage. Daily driver or track toy? What springs did he replace them with? Am going to be installing that same cam, so I'm all for hearing all the info I can about this incident.

Were they all installed properly? I just talked to tsp and they said that with my cam and intended usage that I could get 35-40k out of em. He said to check them at 20-25k though. I'm surprised to hear about them breaking with the 231/237 since it has relatively mild lobes.

I've heard (from a reliable, but confidential source) of someone breaking a couple of PP gold springs but the guy had not warmed up the engine and went and wound to to 6500 RPM.

I'm still going to go with a set of them.

most likely at such early failue is user error of not heat cycling them and revving too high too quick

Are you talking about Nakoz?

He used the factory valve spring seats, which you're not supposed to with any dual spring actually, which caused coil bind and broke 4 of his springs. He has a 231/237 cam also.

Patriot Ls6 stage 3 heads: My story goes like this. Lost spring tension after 6000 klms , Broke valve,smashed head and piston, the valve went through Block.
I did in fairness contact Patriot and they sent me a new head, However i'm still out of pocket for new block,rods valves and all the associated cost with a new rebuild. When the head porter received the new head it was diffrent so more cost matching them up. While he was checking he found one valve seat lose. VERY LUCKY I GUESS.
My personal opinion is that you get what you pay for. Replace with a set of Comp Springs and never worrie about it.

So was one of the valve springs broken or was it the valve itself?

I've installed about 15 sets without 1 failure so far.My friends car has a .605 lift Cam in a supercharged car spinning 6800rpm.Has 10k miles on them so far without any problems.Warming up the engine before beating is very important for spring life.

I have them with a Comp EX-R 232/236-595/600-110 and with 7000rpm shifts with no problems at all Great springs,when these wear out ,I will buy another set.
