Price for custom paintjob?
Hey everyone. I'm getting sick of the way the paint on my car is. I got a nasty scratch on the door when I screwed up my fender and the mounting bracket dug in, my mom put a 6" scratch on the nose, and my friend scratched my other fender trying to help me remount my hood. Not to mention all the lovely swirl marks from the last owner not knowing how to car for a black car. I'm thinking about repainting the car. I either want to do black again or something interesting like charcoal gray metallic. My question I guess is how much does a full paintjob usually run? I want to get it done right...please help. Thanks.

$7,000 to $8,000 for a quality paint job in the Illinois area . . .
With paint, you get what you pay for. It's all in the details. With a color change, do you want the jambs done? Do you want it to look factory? Is the car painted whole or in peices? How much prep work? Are you going to do some prep work? . . . .

If I go black again, I'm just looking for a factory appearance...as mine isn't bad, but I just want show-car quality. If I go with a custom color, I want good quality, and I want the top painted, not black. The jambs would only need painted if I changed colors.

Mine cost 8g, went from NBM to electron blue metallic. Try hitting it with some proper maintanence first and see if that fixes it, u may save yourself thousands, trust me. Goto www.properautocare.com and buy some stuff, meguiars DACP, menzerna intensive polish etc and a wheel.

Wow. Looks good. What kind of compounds do you recommend? I have swirl marks that aren't too bad and a few shallow scratches. Also with wet-sanding, do you have to respray your clearcoat or how does that work? Forgive me as I'm new to body work.
