LM-1 O2 sensor lasting 2 months ! WTF???
Ive had this thing less then 2 months. The AFR started flaking out out of nowhere and I had to send it in. Today, 2 weeks later i get it back w/ a green tag on it saying bad sensor. Not only did they not replace the sensor,t hey didnt even get me a write up of what was wrong or if they had replaced the "bad sensor" Not a call, not an email, nothing. Just a defective part sent back. Infuriated, I called them to see if they had replaced the sensor and just tagged the new one stating the old one was bad. Came to find out they just tagged the old one and put it back in the box and sent it back. Rendering it useless to me until I get a new o2. They eventually agreed to send one but this doesnt leave me w/ a very settlign feeling in the pit of my stomach about these guys. How can these things go bad in less then 2 months? I dont ever even drive the car and the sensor is bad already. As of yet, I dont know how it was bad, what caused it or if it will happen again. Anyone know what these o2s cost if im forced to buy one in the future (seems I Might be) and if they come w/ that big plug out of the box.?
just felt like ranting some.

I run mine in my car all the time and it's been probrably 2-3 months and the sensor is dead. It shows like 30:1 or what ever the very top of the scale is. Scared the **** out of me the first time I saw it, I though I had another fuel noid failure.

Nah, it's the end of the season and the car is tuned well so I can just go off the stock O2s. I think the VW sensor is $60 or something like that. I don't know why it **** the bed, I ran it like instructions said.

Did you try to run the free-air cal cycle over again?
At least, that's something the LM-1 says you may
have to do every so often.
I think it's about a $50 item, common use on VWs
of some sort.
I only used mine for maybe an hour, got my fueling
right, and stuck it in a zip-loc bag. Since I have a
reasonable idea (by correlation) of what my narrow-
bands mean I have no reason to run it all the time,
only if I see things have "stepped off".
But that is a drag about longevity (lack of).
I have seen before people post up about cleaning
O2 sensors, given that it's (acting) shot, if the cal
cycle doesn't bring it back around you wouldn't
have much to lose by trying. Don't have the method
handy but I bet you could scare it up. Though maybe
your free time is worth the $50 for a new sensor.

When not in use fill the bung-hole....ha ha ha.
I doubt they use the same bung, but here is the part number for the official GM O2 sensor delete plug:
AR 25509274 Plug, EXT. M18x1.5x10, Tapered, 1:16, 19 OD, 22 OAL, SAE 1010/1012, (OXY SEN HOLE)

its way too much work to have to undo that every time in my c5. to route taht wire to the engine bay, i need to go up through my torque tube area. would take 1/2 hr to an hour every time as teh center console needs to come off.

My LM1 has had the same sensor in the car for a year with no problems. I bought an extra one at that time but havn't needed it yet. paid $37 for the extra one last year.
I ran my cable beside the clutch Hyd line and then went around the cowl by the hood latch and then in behind the door weatherstrip rubber and then under the dash to the console. Pretty easy to remove if needed.
