BFG Drag Radial Owners Inside...
Just curious about where you guys run them (PSI) at the track and what kind of mods and power you have and what kind of times you're running, and if you drive them on the street, what do you run them at there as well. I bought me a set and want to know a good starting point.

I am running the 275/35/18"s currently. I Dyno'd at 317HP and 323TQ, at the wheels. Yes I have been running the tires since April and will likely only get one summer or 3K and TNT nights almost every week with an average of 4 runs per night. On the street I run 32PSI. The tires pick-up and throw alot of road debris, so be prepared. At the track I run 21PSI and try to do about a 5 second burn-out each time. My car is 6 speed and a good 60' for me in low 1.8's. Best with DR's is a 12.58@110 but I average in the .8's. Hope this helps some. And I have the new tread pattern...

I'm getting old tread patter 255/50/16s for track only use, but may put them on the car to drive to the track (60 miles one way).It seems like 20-21 psi is what everone is hooking on for the track, and regular tire pressure for the street. Thanks for the input and any more.

slow trap, I run at Beech Bend up in Bowling Green. I dont have ET Streets though, and my car is basically stock save the 3200 stall so I think the BFGs will hold my measly 283 RWHP. I'm going to start at 22 PSI I believe and drop if need be. I'm going to give them a good five second burnout or so, make sure they are nice and hot, and then brake it up to just under 2000 RPMs then give it full throttle, pedal to the floor as soon as the last amber bulb lights and hope the BFGs hold (which I think they will). My car is weak and it's heavy as well (probably 300 lbs on top of stock weight for my raceweight) but I do have the stall and I do have a halfway good suspension under the car (QA1s, drag springs up front, BMR lowering springs in the rear, LCA relocation brackets), so I'm hoping for some 1.8X 60' times. Normally I cut 2.1 60's give or take 0.05.

I ran BFG's for a few months but decided to switch over to Nitto's. The BFG's hook great on the track, but wear out fast on the street. When I went to the track on the BFG's, I was running about 18 PSI (sometimes less depending on how the track was that night). On the street I wouldn't run more than 30 PSI. If you run too much air in the tire for daily driving, the tires will wear uneven. The BFG's weren't safe on the street for long though. I had them in the rain a few times but the car was quick to slide... I had to be extremely cautious. Although the Nitto's aren't SZ50's, they do much better in the rain... not as good on the track.

i've cut a best of 1.81 on mine with an M6 (not the greatest track), but usually avg. in the mid 1.80's.. I use 14 psi in mine with a small burnout, and leave the line somewhere north of 5000.

I run 15psi in mine. BFG's rock! I hear Nittos wear better than BFG's but the BFG's hook better. My mods are in sig, I do a good 2nd gear burnout, and I launch at about 5 grand. It spins then hooks. My best 60ft is 1.71 and my car is lowered an inch and the rest of the suspension is stock. I am thinking about trying the new MT drag radials next season.

The best way in my opinion is set them the highest without spinning. I'm on a stock coverter and gears,(auto, 3.23's) leaving from about 800 rpms. I leave them at 27psi, they hook great(255/50/16's) i cut 1.88-1.92 60fts. With your converter i would guess around 20 psi is best though. I do about a 2 sec burnout to clean them off, there is no need to roast them off like slicks.

I run 325/50/15 BFGs@ 13-10 psi. Best 60ft so far is a 1.69. I have been having a hard time getting the Rs up. So I got a Harlan 2-step, will be looking for the optimum RPM to launch this weekend at THE ROCK. This is a M-6 with a ford 8.8, spool, and a 4.30 gear.

I agree my BFG's hooked better than my Nitto's but on the street they were quick to wear out. I ran mine a 14lbs at the track and 30lbs on the street. Mods/Power in my sig. My 60's suck, but I'm trying new RPMs and techniques ever time. (I ran 275/40/17)
The BFG's were good in the rain for the first 1000mi - after that it was like driving on ICE The Nitto's are a better tire for street driving. My BFG's lasted about 4K before the track told me to go home.
Gonna try my new 315/35/17 Nitto's this week-end!
